Description: Montrose Restaurant is a chic eatery in Tunbridge Wells' Church Road, which was named after the famous French vineyard Chteau Montrose. This smart, boutique eatery has a unique dcor with sunny lemon walls, wooden floors and bold black and white seating, and the foodie crowd the restaurant attracts all adore the modern European menu. With different dining areas and excellent service, Montrose restaurant is suitable for afternoon tea, business dining, cocktails and romantic meals for two and we love the smoked duck and cashew nut salad; the 21-day hung black mustard seed crusted fillet of beef served with garlic wild mushrooms and polenta chips; and the restaurant's signature cocktail the Champagne Montrose with fresh raspberries.

Lovely menu of delicious food, upstairs seating was a bit odd and felt like we were in someone's lounge! If possible sit downstairs but food was faultless.

We had a table for four people booked at 'Montrose' last saturday 4th May at 8.15. We had booked online and our reservation had been confirmed. We were taking some very important clients of my husband. We arrived at 8pm and stood outside in disbelief. The restaurant was shut. We called the number and the answer machine said they were... The modern European cuisine here tends to be French/English in style and I have had both dinners and lunches here which have been outstanding. Unfortunately, this place can be very variable in its cooking. One time I was served a really sloppy piece of fish swimming in far too much oil and the pre-Christmas meal I had here with friends... First visit to Montrose, chosen because it presented itself from its website as a "fine dining" restaurant and we like nice food and good service. The experience was unfortunately not hitting the mark for fine dining, predominantly due to the awkward atmosphere and poor service. To be honest the "fine dining" experience started to go downhill before we even arrived,... More

We have visited on 3 occasions, once for an anniversary dinner, once for Sunday lunch and again on Mothers Day. On every occasion the food has been wonderful, French fine dining. It is at a price you would expect for this quality of food, the Sunday lunch was very reasonable at £18 for 2 courses and £22 for 3, after... More

Well, what can i say, the food is heavily overpriced, the wine list limited and again overpriced. We went to this 'resturant' hoping that it would be nice. However, we were so wrong. We had to hail the waiter to be seated, even though the place was empty, we were slowly taken to our table, where the waiter walked off,... More

We visited on a Saturday evening having been slightly surprised to get a table for four after making a last minute booking the day before. There were still a couple of empty tables .Overall we thought the food was very well cooked and nicely presented on the plates. The chef is clearly well in charge of his kitchen and nothing... More

Quiet but excellent food. Peaceful atmosphere. Make sure you book early for special days! Wine list is good too.

Tunbridge Wells, which hardly boasts a profusion of restaurants of a high standard and good value, can think itself lucky it has this one. We found dinner here a pleasurable experience; good ingredients, well cooked and presented, service friendly, efficient, but not cloying and what I thought very good value for what it was. As for the wine list, I... More

Very nice atmosphere, but the complements end there. We went for a nice end of week dinner, and were not impressed. The wait staff, although very efficient, came off as pretentious and trying too hard. The wine list was massively overpriced and did not offer a nice range of wines. Our food was good, but no better than I can... More
