Not really a drinking pub - but a good food pub. The owners' basset hound certainly looks like it enjoys the food!

As a long time devotee of the George we had yet another wonderful meal and my daughter had nothing but praise for the creative vegetarian option. In addition the George is one of the few truley dog friendly establishments in the area, as the owners of an ageing dog this is a key consideration for us.

We visited the George with friends for a light lunch on a cold January day. As soon as we entered it felt warm, friendly and had a good buzz. Staff, as ever, were knowledgeable and efficient and we were soon settled in the bar area with our drinks. Three of us had the George's Crispy Chicken Ciabatta and the fourth...

What a pity about this dog. It is completely unacceptable to have him wandering in the restaurant area and I am surprised that the environmental health officers have not taken nthis up with the proprietors. Otherwise the food was very good. However, we won't come again until Stanley is retired.

Thank you for your reveiw and we do really appreciate your feedback regarding Stanley. It is a tricky one regarding him though as we are an advertised dog friendly establishment which is popular with many of our customers and their dogs. However we do realise that not everyone likes dogs so we are very happy at any point to remove...

Very small bar area and very basic dining area. Possibly a problem with their dishwasher as knives, forks and plates were not properly clean and one wine glass had lipstick marks....not a good start. The food was unsophisticated pub grub, not the standard that is referenced on other reports, yet you can not judge the tastes of other reviewers. £6.50...

Lovely looking pub from outside in a pretty village. The manager is really friendly and made us feel like VIP's as soon as we came in. The food is better than average pub grub with excellant roasts. Loved Stanley the somewhat overweight basset who was happily hoovering up any left overs. If I had one teeny negative it would be...

I can only agree with other reviewers in that the Food is of a very high standard, and the poroprieters should be congratulated.
My wife and I made a casual visit, expecting Pub grup, and had a very pleasant surprise in receiving such great food, and the beer was also very good!
I agree that "Stanley" the resident Basset Hound...

We stayed at the George for 2 nights as a weekend break and travelled all of 15 miles from Hastings to get there. We had heard that the hotel was good but not only was it good but actually superb. Our room was large airy and well appointed and the bed divine whilst the food in the restaurant was extremely...

Friendly, welcoming and efficient. My wife and I ate there twice during a four night stay in the area. On the second occasion they were really full but still managed to fit us in. Some over-seasoning issues on some dishes. But, here's the thing - pork belly to die for! The best I've ever had or ever likely to have....

We stayed just the one night at the George Inn, but wished it had been more. Our room was fantastic - a great big comfortable bed, new decor, nice views down the main street of picturesque Robertsbridge - and our evening meal could not have been better - tasty, well-presented, locally-sourced. Proprietors Jane and John are very welcoming, even with...
