It is a local place where the locals meet. I tried a sandwich which is called the todo and it was great. It is sort of like a Cuban sandwich and it is the best I have had in years

I'll take two! Barra Payan offers a great Dominican experience and lunch ta' boot. Its an easy walk north of the capital building along Avenida 30 de Marzo and a welcome reprieve from the heat and humidity.
While the sandwiches are NOT always as good as advertised, the bebidas ARE. $4 later, you'll have dined at a true Santo Domingo...

This is a typical sandwich place with a history, but sandwiches are really nothing special....there are other places in Santo Domingo with sandwiches that are a LOT better.
Delicious sandwiches, shakes and juices that will keep you coming back and all at excellent prices. This place has a good thing going and I had to come here twice.
Credit Cards are NOT accepted, be sure to have cash.
Parking can get ugly here as tiny streets are jammed with cars.
No tables available, only old school counter top/bar...

This place is a landmark in Santo Domingo, best sandwiches made with locally made pan de agua! When I go to Santo Domingo, I must have a pollo danes and lechoza Ca, which is a drink made of papaya and carnation milk!! Yummy! Open late night.
Really delicious traditional Dominican sandwiches. Get out of the tourist spots and just get over here, it doesn't get more authentic or traditional. I recommend the Danes Completo : ) The joyful atmosphere of the staff (singing, banging countertops, tossing a knife in the air!) can't be beat either.
REALLY it is opened 24-7 365 days a year. If your are dancing at 2 am and need to replenish energy - grab a bite and keep dancing. Don´t miss on the great juice mixes offered. I recommend PAYAN COMPLETO WITH CHINOLA K

These sandwiches mean tradition for all the Dominicans. Pretty good price for the quantity of ingredients and quality of the sandwhich. The smoothies are to die for!. Try a papaya's milkshake somewhere else and it will never taste like the one from Barra Payan.
From a natural Smoothie to a melted chees Danes .... all is good .. but portions have decrees with time since they have not change prices in a long time. Always crowded some times you have to wait to sit down but it worth to wait.
