walk through the mini mart! One of the best margaritas I've had in a long time. more
My wife and I ate here on a recommendation from another couple. We had dined so cheaply all week, this was our "expensive" night out near the end of the week, although really it is not pricey here at all relative to some other establishments. Nice, intimate outdoor atmosphere once you get through the convenience store - the restaurant sits... more
One of the locals recommended we check out Rhumb Lines and we were a bit scared at first since you literally have to walk THROUGH a convenience store to get to the hostess stand! We didn't get the best table in the house but after a good strong drink (which they serve wonderfully) I got a good laugh out of... more
We recently stayed on St.John and dined at this restaurant two times. What a delight! The food was fresh, different and delicious. The service was friendly, prompt and fun. The Key Lime pie was the best we have ever had! We will definitely go back when we are lucky enough to visit the island again! more
The service was great. I thought the atmosphere was very nice. I found all of the food, however, to be overly dressed. I ordered the diver scallops. The scallops were spicy, that was no problem. But they also had SO MUCH rosemary on them (I *think* it was rosemary I was tasting), it was overwhelming. My cucumber sweet and sour... more
Rhumb lines is near the waterfront of St. John and easy to miss (but you'll be sorry if you do). You enter through a small grocery mart (really!), but end up in a small grotto surrounded by palms, bamboo, and subdued lighting with gentle music. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food, and takes as much... more
Found this place completely by accident, and it was by far the best meal we had while in St.Thomas/St John. The oyster bisque was superb. While we were there, the kitchen obtained a freshly caught lobster, and it was offered up as an instant meal! The pad thai and special local spices were wonderful. The mojitos will take your breathe... more
When I talk about my trip to St. John, I always mention the dishes we had at Rhumb Lines. We started with the Thai Crab Cakes, which were delectably plump with fresh crab. Then we ordered Scott's Sesame-Encrusted Szechuan Tuna and the Caribbean Lobster that was the special feature of the night. The sauces and seasonings were so tasty, I... more
So what if Rhumb Lines doesn't have a water view. It has a cool laid back vibe in a hidden courtyard. There are trees growing up in the middle of the restaurant and each table has an umbrella with twinkling lights and glowing candles. We had an array of small plates with the tuna tartare as a standout. All four... more
The food her was really good and the scene was nice. They had a live band the day we went and the women sang very well. We went with 7 people and they had no issue accommodating to us. We all had drinks and ordered a full entree. I ordered the Pad Thai and was informed by the waiter that... more
