Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous food as usual. Excellent quality, service and value. Great location and easily accessible. Could be so much more expensive than what it is considering the standard of food.

Love eating here. We have never been disappointed with the food, wine and service. The atmosphere is informal and cosy. All food is prepared fresh and from scratch. There’s the choice of set menu or a La carte. It’s not expensive given the exceptional quality...of food and service. This was our 4th visit as It’s just under 100 mile round trip for us. But certainly won’t be our last 🥰More

Ian Brown continues to produce wonderful plates of food. Eight of us met for a celebration dinner, choosing widely from the menu over 3 courses and loving every plateful. You can't fault any aspect of this small restaurant, nice ambience created by an attentive Sheila...who makes everyone feel at home. What a pity they are retiring when the business is sold. They will be missed. Enjoy while you still can!More

Been regulars here for years and it never disappoints. A traditional menu (with fantastic changing specials) that is beautifully cooked and presented by talented chef Ian & team - the sea bass on smoked haddock risotto is stand out. And the baked alaska is a...must order! The warm, friendly service is also second to none - Sheila is a real gem, going above and beyond to make you feel welcome, to pass on recommendations and to make you a fabulous cocktail! We feel so lucky to have such an exceptional, welcoming restaurant on our doorstep. A must try - you won’t be disappointed!More

Visited with my partner, he chose from the set menu & I chose from the main menu. Both of our meals were amazing, exceptionally tasty & very good value for money. Touches, such as the crispy kale & tarragon jus were reminiscent of much more...expensive restaurants. We both loved this place & will definitely be back. The service provided by Gillian & food prepared by Ryan were first class.More

Working locally, stumbled across this place. Amazing traditional food but elevated to a different class altogether. Steak pie was amazing, as were the veg. Trifle with whiskey was insane. Staff were friendly, great atmosphere, wish I lived closer would be here every week. Keep up...the good workMore

Six of us went for lunch today. There was a Christmas menu and the set menu. I went for the Christmas menu. The prawn Thermidor, salmon and chocolate dessert were all delicious. All 6 of us agreed that the our food was excellent. Service was...ideal as always. Ian Browns is one of our local restaurants and we really like it. I would definitely recommend the Christmas menu.More
