Owner retired a couple of months ago. Was a fixture on the Edmonton scene for as long as I've lived here. But it's gone now.
Jack's Grill is an excellent restaurant if you want to have a quiet, intimate meal with excellent food. It is an older style restaurant and is located discreetly in a residential strip mall where parking is abundant. The staff are very professional.
Just recently I heard Jack's had closed this March. I would give Jack's an average to good rating from our last visits in comparison to other restaurants we now frequent. I was saddened to hear they closed as it had been a favourite restaurant of ours over the years since we first found it tucked away in its original location... More
This is my all time favourite restaurant in Edmonton. I can't really afford to eat there a lot, but it's a great treat. I really love their food. I've never eaten any dish there that I regretted, and I've been going there since they were in their Blue Quill location. In fact, they did what my mom could never do:... More
Tucked into a non-descript southside strip mall, this restaurant was a real find. For Edmonton, this restaurant might very well be one of the few fine dining venues in the City. If I hadn't read about it in a magazine, I might have just as easily missed this one. My husband and I found the ambiance small and cozy. The... More
We loved everything! This is our first time here and we will definitely be coming back. The food was delightfully prepared and presented. The flavors and combinations were delicious. We thought the root salad was great. It was served warm and was a great "winter" salad. I had the chicken roulade Stuffed with goat cheese and nuts. The black currant... More
My husband and I tried Jack's Grill Jan.19/13, for dinner. After being seated ignored for a while, finally where able to order our wine and then ignored a bit more. The owner "Mark" finally came over and took our appetizer order. We ordered the roasted root salad and the cheese plate to begin with and should have stopped there. Definitely... More
There was a special menu for $90+ per person. (This included a glass of champagne.) The food was decent enough but the service left a lot to be desired. We had to ask for a knife with our entrees. My date does not drink alcohol & I found my needs were being ignored as though I didn't drink either. Room... More
The waiter was really not very good, not accomodating, food was good but expensive. We had small children with us, which the waiter did not really want to serve, "we don't have a childs menu" was his response, even though we had asked when we made the reservation and were told the kitchen will make several "special" dishes for children,... Food prep is a bit on the fussy side, but service was excellent. Areas created in a fairly large space, so it did not feel as if you were eating in a barn. A bit noisy, but not overbearing, and they lowered the level of the music when asked.
