Not fond of standing in line to order. Limited menu. If you want a meatless item goodluck. The cheese cake is to die for
We visit the Crow and Gate every time we visit Yellowpoint Lodge. It is a bit of a tricky spot to find because it is actually in Cedar not Ladysmith. We feel transported to England: 2 fireplaces, beams, leaded windows, some tables with long benches for sharing and others just for two. We have never had a bad meal: our... More
Great English Pub out in the countryside in Cedar, B.C. Not sure why Trip Advisor has it listed as Ladysmith. Closer to Nanaimo than Ladysmith anyway. Beautiful, beautiful setting. You order your drinks and food at the counter and then seat yourselves. A server brings the food to your table. Great atmosphere with a roaring fireplace when we were last... More
Went there for the first time in July, it's a very interesting place with the amazing gardens outside. Locals have their own mugs hanging from the roof inside, which they use when they come. Outside has seating areas, and people get placed with you if there's room at your table. Great idea, we had a nice chat with some people... More
This is traditional pub...no fried foods, no fries even...just yummy plates, scotch eggs, wonderful creamy soups, oysters, sandwiches and cheeses, The beer and cider menu is extensive...When the weather is nice you can sit outside in the garden and it is so pretty and relaxing. This place is always packed but you rarely have to wait long for a seat.... More
Get there early. Its always busy. The crab cakes are the very best I have had in any restaurant.
We were visiting friends in Ladysmith and they took us here. We had to wonder where he was taking us, after a 20 mins drive down some backroads in the middle of nowhere. But when we got there, it was great! Lovely building, great atmosphere, wonderful service and tasty food! Really enjoyed our visit here, and would definitely recommend it... More
As a first time visitor at lunch time, it was a bit of a challenge finding this pub. Google maps made up for the lack of road signage in the Cedar area south of Nanaimo. It was order at the counter and find a seat. On this sunny day, sitting outside was a given. Picnic tables were dotted around with... More
The Crow & Gate is located in the rural community of Cedar, not far out of Nanaimo. It is well worth the drive. The food is wonderful and so is the atmosphere. We went in the afternoon and sat outside in the lovely garden area. It was a hot summer day and the only problem we had was with the... More
Food was poor. One of group had a plowmans lunch which was mostly potato salad. another had a beef pie which tasted odd. In a group of five of us one person said the food was OK. Must say the flowers are lovely. Inside looks dark and dingy and smells funny.
