I've visited both locations in Toronto (the Distillery and King St W) and they're both great! We stopped in for some Mexican hot chocolate on a cold winter day and it was sooo good!
I must say i had higher expectations going to Soma chocolate. The chocolate is good but not great, and here i am comparing with my favorites (neuhaus, godiva and even some of lindt premium chocolates, as well as other french or swiss smaller chocolate brands). The flavours are not strong enough. Definitely the value for money is very low, it... More
As a big time chocolate lovers, my wife and I do not miss a single opportunity to try out places around the world known for great chocolates. This is by far the best place for chocolate. Chocolates here are just incredible. They are expensive but you pay for the quality. We spent over $80 for a small bag but it... More
If you go the the Distillery do not miss Soma. A wide variety of chocolates and, if you are lucky, you can see them making chocolate and gelato. If their chocolates are out of this world (indulge in a shot of Mayan hot chocolate: spicy, dark and delicious) and they actually have chocolate made out of 100% cocoa for the... More
Whenever I travel, I always check Trip Advisor for places I don't want to miss. This was listed as the #1 place in Toronto and I'm a chocolate lover so we had to try it. I was really expecting something over the top since it's listed as #1. I thought the shop was rather small. They didn't seem to be... More
This has to be some of the best chocolate in the world. We are two chocoholics who have sampled the best, in many places. We tasted as much of the stunning array of chocolate products as we could, in a single afternoon. We took the little table right in front of the window, looking at the most scenic view a... More
The gelato here is amazing! It's almost like being in Italy. Recently tried the Thanksgiving special, Pumpkin, and it was to die for. There's a wide variety of beautiful chocolates and related items, as well, but Soma is basically a gelato destination for us!
Soma Chocolate is definitely worth a trip to the Distillery District. Close the the Young Theatre for the Performing Arts, and overall a lovely place to wander while you nibble. Their hot chocolate is excellent, and their dark chocolate treats are superb. Perhaps not for the very frugal, but after eating Soma chocolate, you'll never want another Mars Bar.
A definite "must try" for visitors and locals. First tried this chocolate in a gift basket I had sent to me and I was hooked. There are two locations, both are excellent. The Distillery district location has more character but king street is nice to. The hot chocolate is amazing, both Mayan and dark side of the mug, you can... More
