Excellent wine tasting, tour and two course meal. We were given a voucher for this and have just experienced it. It included a guided tour of the vines, four wines to taste with a running commentary, videos of the wine production process and a two...course meal and coffee. An excellent afternoon’s activity. Would recommend.More

I’m absolutely disgusted with how this place treats their staff. I visited today and saw first hand the woman in charge (who I think I overheard as Fran but may be wrong) completely berating and upsetting a young server who works there. We’ve been here...a few times and Fran’s customer service is always very cold and not friendly at all but our most recent visit really crossed the line. It’s such a shame because we absolutely love the vineyard, we love the surroundings and the food, but I just feel so so sorry for the young staff who work here and are getting treated like this on shift. Looking through the reviews I can see that it’s obviously not the first time that someone has complained about the management at this place. My parents visited a few weeks ago and thought the same thing but don’t have access to leave a review. Of course it’s going to be busy, but that is not the servers fault, you can see on these poor girls faces that are just drained and so upset. Something really needs to change, as I said I’m not the first person to notice this and it surely can’t be good for business or all of these poor girls health. I think management owe the staff an apology and I really hope they start treating them better.More

Excellent food & service considering how busy they were. Flavoursome hot tasty food, well worth waiting 15 mins for a table as we only popped in on the off chance

The lovely fresh food and great table service made up for the frosty welcome on check in. Our 1st visit today Saturday 10/02/2024 At the table check in we were asked 'have you booked' no we replied, well you should have as it's half term...and we get really busy (it was a Saturday). We are In our late 60' s now I replied our children are in their 30's so we don't check school holidays for a long time, well you need to we were told, We had driven 40 min to get here otherwise we would have walked away. We were led to a table for 2 adjacent the till, not the best of locations but the food was fresh and delicious and table service was very good. The meet and greet at any venue is your 1st impression so a little training required in this area for this particular lady. We will visit again in the future.More

We visited early December and what a fantastic day we had. The food in the restaurant was first class, freshly cooked and served by a polite waitress who couldn’t do enough for us. Sensational experience in which we was encapsulated by the acres of vineyards....The handmade craft and woodwork shops were a hidden treasure before we enjoyed our meal, a lovely tour and wine tasting in the cozy wine loft that held incredible views especially at sunset. Our day finished in the lovely deli and shop area where we came home ladened with wine and delicacies to continue making memories at home :)More

Our welcome, our server, and our food were all exceptionally good. To say the restaurant was super busy, we were not kept waiting and couldn’t fault the restaurant experience. After lunch, we went into the shop to look at the various gift displays. I was...quickly approached by a staff member who said could I have a basket as there had been a lot of breakages lately. I took the basket thinking it was a normal requisite. Two other female customers came in, one carrying a large box, but neither were asked to have a basket. I began to suspect she thought I was either a shoplifter or cumbersome ( I am neither) in fact the basket made it more awkward to manoeuvre between the displays. I returned the basket hoping she would say something as I went back into the shop and it would give me the opportunity as to why I was the only person who was asked to have one. I have never caused a breakage in a shop in all my life, nor have I ever shop lifted. I am 66 not 6 so I don’t need props to help me shop safely. I’m not sure what the inference was, but I do know I left feeling uncomfortable.More

Attended for wine tour- compete waste of an afternoon and money. The wine tour consisted of looking at the closest vine to the car park- literally next to my parked car and standing outside the processing plant that we walked passed to enter the wine...house. Presentation was 1 minute videos about the vineyard and the host was poor. No interaction other than the script. Had samples of wine by 1.30, then literally sitting making idle chit chat with strangers on our table. The ‘host’ then proclaimed that we would now take a 30 minute break. Food was served upon return nothing to write home about. All in all a wasted afternoon.More

The vineyard has a job vacancy poster on the wall when entering the restaurant, stating the vacancies but no wage or salary it says to to ask/call for more information. When I was there visiting the shop I asked a lady about info and she...told me she didn’t have any and to ring up. So I have since rang 3 times enquiring, each time the person answering the phone has no information what so ever. I have had my email address taken with no response. So on my last phone call, of course the women answering the phone had no information, surely you would have a basic print out of answers to give people. As someone interested in the job this is really off putting that they can’t even provide anyone working there with basic information to pass on. It’s very unorganised and as someone who has always enjoyed visiting the vineyard it’s made be rethink my regular visits. I’ve also never taken the time to read the reviews on trip advisor but I somehow believe I’ve swerved a bullet applying for a role here as it seems that the staff are rude (although I haven’t had that experience personally) but listening to the customers online this isn’t an environment I want to work in. Such a shame.More

* Long read * I was given a 'Wine Tasting' voucher by a friend for my birthday in July 2020. The expiry date was 30/06/2021. However, we were hit by Covid which as we know saw everything grind to a hault. Fast forward to now...and upon finding the voucher this weekend (September 2023) I called the vineyard and spoke to the shop Assistant Manager called Rachel to ask if it would be at all possible to redeem the voucher (I acknowledged the time delay and explained the voucher had been misplaced and only just found) from the moment I opened my mouth Rachel talked over me, and when I asked if I could just finish explaining my situation she then called me 'patronising' Now as far as I'm concerned working in business communications/service the one thing you never do is be rude to a customer. You certainly don't call them names. Her approach was very antagonistic, abrupt and far from supportive. She debated at length what would have been written on the voucher, and when I read it out in full she then conceeded and said she has only been there since February, and that in her time there they put 2 years on all vouchers. I explained that wasn't the case in mine. Rachel then said she would speak to her 'Big Boss' (Lisa or Bev) and see what they say. Within 2 minutes she called me back, and staright away her tone was agreesive and autocratic. Basically they wouldn't redeem it. I explained that with my company that I own, in unusual circumstances I would also accommodate something such as this. Again I was met with an attitude that was less than kind. The issue here isn't that I couldn't redeem my voucher (whilst that would have been helpful) it is the manner and tone that I was spoken to. It was disgraceful. In summary 'Rachel' in her role of Assistant Shop Manager is a very poor reflection of customer service. I will never visit Halfpenny Green ever again.More

I'm so shocked by the negative reviews, as we found this place, the staff and the food amazing. I don't know how you make your chips but they were absolutely fantastic. My mom thoroughly enjoyed her birthday lunch out and it was a really pleasant...vibe. The toilet facilities were also immaculately clean. We will 100% be returning.More

Came for breakfast, expecting something lovely in such a location. Sadly underwhelming and basic full English, flavourless and bland. Tomato so pale / underripe we didn’t even taste them. Coffee was very poor, but I am particular about my coffee and found it far too...bitter. The saving grace was the service, the waitress was a delight and very friendly. Food could be so much more with a little effort.More

Breakfast was disappointing. I think when we arrived at 9.45am, they opened at 9am, and it was empty we should have guessed The girl on reception was really helpful and attentive which was unique to her, the older member of staff clearly wasn’t enjoying her...lot Food was poor quality and tasteless especially the sausage and eggs. They were clearly cutting corners in other areas too by only offering one ramekin of ketchup. A request for brown sauce was met with a heavy sigh and role of the eyes. One packet of butter per slice of toast and one teabag in a pot for two also failed to impress Have been here before but don’t think we will return anytime soonMore

I have previously visited and enjoyed the lunchtime sandwiches, which were if quality, fair sized portions and appropriately priced. On my visit today I have experienced a significant change- smaller portions, much less ganish and consequently Over Priced. Very disappointed.
