Went for a meal here in April 2009. It was for a celebration. We had booked in advanced and were shown to our table. In side the place was quite nice, tables weren't too close to others so it wasn't cramped. The hosts, a male and female (maybe Jan and Freddie??!) were nice enough, got us some drinks and menus.... more

We should have been warned when the family who came in at the same time as us were coldly told that the restaurant did not have high chairs or cater for babies, unfortunately for us we sat down. Where can I start? The menu is cluttered with no clear distinction between starters and main courses, bread is £2.50 and adequate... more

we had a lovely evening (our wedding anniversary night) in this restaurant - we had gone to Dartmouth for the New Angel, where we stayed for a monday & tuesday night but they didn't do food on a monday so we went to Jan & Freddie's brasserie, which was great, I had the John Dory with risotto which was as... more

Unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to try this restaraunt. My wife made a reservation for our anniversary celebration and was treated in a rather dismissive manner by the chap who answered the phone (who spoke with and educated accent) and when I called to cancel and politely explain why we were cancelling he couldn't even bring himself to apologise... more

This was our first time in Dartmouth, a birthday celebration. We were there on a Monday night so the majority of restaurants such as The New Angel were closed, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We booked a table at Jan and Freddies after admiring the menu and the relaxed looking atmosphere. We were not disappointed. We... more

My husband and I have eaten in J&F's many times. It is one of our favourite restaurants in Dartmouth and we have eaten in nearly all of them! We visit Dartmouth 4 or 5 times a year and often bring friends with us. However, last weekend we did not book J&F's. Gone is a sensibly priced a la carte menu,... more

Wonderful food,. and I found the supplement on the beef well worth it, fantastic rare local steak, some of the best I have tasted. the deserts were wonderful and all in all good value. my... more

The food was satisfactory but absolutely not worth the money they are charging especially as their prices have increased recently despite the economic climate. We were there on Bank Holiday Saturday and the restaurant was three quarters empty. If you want bread you are charged an extra £2.50 which is ridiculous. The beef option on the menu was a staggering... more

As a resident of Dartmouth I've eaten in all the top flight restaurants in the town. In terms of quality of food at an affordable price Jan & Freddie's Brasserie is absolutely unbeatable! The menu is varied and offers a range of dishes to suit almost every palate. The food has always been expertly prepared and brilliantly presented. The head... more
