Description: For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeters The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and youll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.

We had lunch at the Conservatory yesterday and really enjoyed it. The choice of food on the 2 course menu was very good. It was well presented and tasted good. The service and ambience in the restaurant was ideal and it is well worth a visit. We will certainly go there again.

What a lovely evening we spent last night at The Conservatory. The first time we' managed to get a table (we always leave it too late!) and it certainly didn't disappoint. Lovely food, discrete service and a super setting. The crab starter and monkfish main were both divine. We will be back!

Like many of the other reviewers we found the Conservatory excellent. My brother and I took our elderly mother and the service was attentive without being cloying, and was exactly what was required for a quiet evening out. The rooms are intimate (including a mezzanine room for large parties - allowing them to be separate from the rest of us,... More

So, my wife and I have been looking through trip advisor to try and find the best restaurant in Exeter having lived here for a year now. We went for the Early bird menu. Starter and a main for a reasonable price (under £16). The local mussels were very tasty and beautifully presented. The beef in a red wine was... More

I was visiting my son who is at university here and he had booked the restaurant, I have to say from the outside it looks unassuming but the minute you walk in you know dinner will be good. Dining is on different levels the decor is interesting and restful. The menu wonderful with interesting flavour combinations a very good choice... More

Our daughters booked a table here for a present and what a great choice it was. The meals were of the highest quality and the service was excellent too. Would recommend this restaurant without hesitation

2nd time we have been, had exactly the same meals as last time....nice ingredients, imaginitively put together and well cooked. At least I had a different bottle of red !.......which this time was a very nice cote du rhone. Really nice place to to for a cosy meal with your loved one(s)

Spent a memorable evening with friends, our second visit since under new ownership and we enjoyed even more than the last time. Between us we had the crab starter - delicious, scallops - cooked to perfection and the mussels - delicious, onto mains 2 had venison in chocolate sauce - brilliant, so tasty and the venison was cooked to perfection,... A hidden away gem in the centre of Exeter. Best to go for the early bird menu - cheaper, but in no way not as good. Great Crackling, and pudding was a delight.
