This place was excellent. Went for Anniversary meal with Husband. Beetroot soup, Lamb and lentils for main and baked alaska for dessert. Wine list is excellent loads of selection at very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and welcoming which made us feel at home rather than a stuff restaurant. The food is as good as any Michelin star restaurant. more

I just read a negative review on the Old Butchers in Stow on the Wold. I would like to disagree...strongly! We too, a table of 5, had as always a thoroughly enjoyable time. We dined at the Old Butchers, a party of five, following a recommendation. The food was mediocre, the service off-hand and bordering on rude. The tables were so close together we could hear every word of the conversations taking place around us. I'd expected so much from this restaurant, but will never visit again. more

We are fairly regular visitors to the Old Butchers and have never disappointed. Our lunch this week continued that trend. Our starters (bone marrow with parsley salad and duck ham and figs were great), the Jacob's Ladder Bourgignon was sensational - one of, if not the best, bourgignon I have ever had. Went to this place with my family and I must say I have never met staff that lack basic manners as much as they do here. They are extremely rude and abrupt. Even my five year old daughter has better manners. If you want to be served by nice friendly people and eat lovely food, try the Stow Lodge Hotel. more

This restaurant is a true find! The decor is very soothing and the outdoor patio is very picturesque. The wine list is excellent, but what really shines is the fantastic food. Everything was perfectly prepared using the freshest ingredients. The service was amiable and efficient. I could eat there every night. Bravo! more

Lovely looking place. Tried to give us the worst table by far in the place, even tho half empty. Staff, apart from one waitress utterly devoid of human wamth.
