An excellent restaurant which delivers amazing local food. We eat here when brining family and friends to see where we live. It never lets us down, hence why we return time and again. Food is good quality, we cooked and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. Two warnings though, it is pricey and on a Friday or Saturday you will need... more

Good menu that supports local producers. I've never had a bad meal here yet, and, I've been several times. Better inside than the outer appearance suggests. Not quite fine-dining but not far off, a bit like the prices, but it is worth it. Very pleasant host with a good team. more

This is my favourite restaurant in Lincoln. I've eaten here about 5 times over the last four years for various special occasions. My husband and I ate here for his birthday on a Thursday night at the beginning of October and the restaurant was full throughout the evening. The food is always amazing, with great local produce, plus interesting fresh... more

The Old Bakery tends to wallow in its 'reputation' and has now let this turn into complacency. The Chef floats in to the dining room to bestow his presence on diners (rather like the over inflated, egotistical chef in the film Ratatouille). The owner is even worse! He makes an entrance every so often to smugly gloat over his establishment... more

I will keep this short and sweet, white wine ordered and when the bottle brought to the table unscrewed in front of us to find it had already been opened and at least a glass gone, oh we laughed….Starter, soup of the day burnt my mouth (you should always let food heated up in a microwave stand before serving) accompanied by... more

Went to the Bakery with a neighbour who raves about the place; granted there are limited options for decent dining in Lincoln. On arrival our neighbour tried to get us a seat in the conservatory as it was a lovely day - cue a five minute lecture from the exceedingly arrogant manager/maitre-d/whoever. He had obviously missed out any customer service... more

Graduation and we wanted somewhere to celebrate the night before with our proud Graduand (as he was then) and 7 other even more proud members of the family. I am not sure where to start, but we all agreed it was one of our best family dinners ever. The food was exceptional; full of flavour, original and delivered what was... more

Having stayed at 12, 4 star establishments this year. I am afraid this place just dosn't cut it! The room was fine, tea tray good but no decaf coffee sachets. The bathroom was across from the room and although we were given a key we only managed to lock it once after a 10 min struggle, gave up after that!... more

I visited this restaurant in August 2009 with my partner and parents and after reading the reviews we were all expecting a nice experience. First of all let me say this is the first time I have felt impassioned enough to write a poor review on a website about anything. My job takes me all over the World and I... more

We visited The Old Bakery having read the recent Independent review and being impressed by the varied and interesting menu on their website. We were seated in the conservatory which was busy, but surprisingly quiet. The service was excellent and friendly from the second we entered until the end of the meal. However, the food and atmosphere left us both... more
