Great friendly staff, great value and perfect brekky wrap by Jan. Nice atmosphere too for a midweek afternoon and coffee spot on. Thank you!
We popped into here whilst in town doing a bit of shopping and the food was superb! A cozy little cafe. A great little find.
Pleasant atmosphere as ever. Potato and spinach curry today. Very average, a thicker sauce would make this dish as it is so basic. The nan bread was Wetherspoons level, frozen and heated up to be a bit like soggy cardboard. Nice bread would have saved...it. I'll keep coming when I'm in town. Keith's on Lark Lane is my benchmark for this type of food and I have not had a bad meal in there in 40 years. Not picky or looking for anything special either. Here is a definite second place.More
I booked a family lunch after a morning concert at the Philharmonic hall. My granddaughter id gluten and dairy free and the menu was able to accommodate her dietary requirements. Great food cooked to order. recommended.
I've been a regular for 20 years, and I can't praise the cooking or serving staff enough. Just had the chef special Menemen, an egg based breakfast which was truly and utterly delicious. I never, write reviews but this was very special dish prepared with...skill and love. The Egg is simply the bestMore
This had to be the worst Christmas dinner ever. The nut roast was barely warm, the purée carrots were freezing, literally straight from the fridge. For dessert the apple crumble was served with cold custard and when I took back to be warmed up the...woman behind the counter tried to tell me it wasn’t! Custard from a carton and being warmed up individually when serving a table of 20 wasn’t the service I was expecting and the food definitely below average. Sorry but I do feel recently there has been no consistency in the quality of food recently.More
We had a vegan breakfast here today and some parts were good like the scrabbled tofu, the sausages could have been cooked better and were warm, but the worse part was the mushrooms, which were hardly cooked and were quite cold. They were whole and...I think they had been dipped in hot water. Pity as they did spoil the breakfast for us. Also better if you don’t put the marge on the toast before it’s served, as there was far too much and It was difficult to remove it. Needless to say we won’t be having this breakfast again. Pity as the place has loads of character 🙁More
What a great find just off Bold Street in Liverpool...a real hidden gem... entrance doesn't look too promising but go up the stairs and you find a superb vegetarian and vegan cafe...search this place out and don't pass by. Absolutely fantastic breakfast with excellent filter...coffee. Lovely, welcoming staff and very quick service. Tremendous.More
We have always enjoyed eating at Egg Cafe, however we attended on Sunday 4th November at 2.55pm & missed the chalk board notice halfway up the stairs stating "food not served after 3pm". We proceeded to the counter but there were no obvious seats available...and the staff kindly suggested we could sit upstairs notwithstanding the sign said upstairs was closed. This was very kind & courteous of them. We were considering what to order when one of the counter staff informed us they were open until 5pm but stopped serving food at 3pm (it was now 2 minutes past 3!). This instruction had come from the kitchen & the staff behind counter appeared somewhat embarrassed at having to deliver this news. There was plenty of unsold food available at the counter. We left not seeing much point in debating the decision and less inclined to plead to be fed. Disappointed we made our way to Carlisi on Dale Street, so all's well that ends well.More
What a find, thanks to so many good reviews. Unusual location in the top floor of a building and behind a closed door and sign reading "we are open." Once inside it's a Tardis... two floors, lots of tables, plants and tasteful/relaxing but not overpowering...music. It has an independent bohemian feel and the large veggie breakast at £10.99 including a pot of tea was fantastic. This will now become my breakfast of choice whenever I'm in LiverpoolMore
First visit - fabulous friendly staff - spotless- great menu- we aren't vegetarians but do enjoy vegetarian foods- I had a lovely large salad my hubby had the soup and cheese on toast - highly recommend - we will be back - thanks ❤️❤️ xx
Looked forward to visiting here based on reviews from a vegan website. First impressions were good as we liked the alternative feel of the place. We ordered a quiche with salad and a spinach and bean bake also with salad. We took a table with...an excellent view of the city. We have noticed some recent comments on here but we didn't have to wait too long for food certainly no more than 10 minutes. The food was excellent we just wish that more places served veggie and vegan food like this instead of the usual fast food varieties available (which have their place of course just not all the time). A set range of veggie and vegan meals with a few daily specials is a winner for us everytime but its not as easy to find as it should be. The egg is well worth a visit.More
I've been a regular here for near 20 years. I've even worked here in the past. So it's been a shame to see that there seems to be more focus on shoving ideology at people than customer service. Staff seem to be more concerned with...there own conversations than ensuring tables are cleaned, cutlery is available etc. I come in for food , not to have militant rainbow flags rammed into my face. Make the Egg Great AgainMore
I would be interested to know what the famous television chef, Gordon Ramsay, would have to say about this place. The service has never been great, but it appears to be plumbing new depths of disorganisation and chaos. To be fair, the food in here...is usually excellent however, that judgement is more than offset by the extremely long wait for my food to arrive. I have been sitting here for well over half an hour and quite frankly, I am now so hungry that I could eat a scabby horse. The poor service doesn’t appear to be attributable to a shortage of staff; in fact, there appear to be plenty of people working behind the counter and generally running around the place. The Egg Cafe has a reasonably good reputation in Liverpool which, if it continues like this, it will lose very quickly.More
