Description: With a characteristic setting inside the Old Truman Brewery in London's East End, Al Volo Italian restaurant offers tasty regional cuisine, complemented by home-made pasta. Although modern in design, the restaurant's atmosphere is homely and welcoming. East End restaurants tend to offer very good value for money and Al Volo is no exception. Whether you choose to eat indoors or on the summer terrace, you can choose from a variety of regional dishes, personally chosen by chef Antonio Tonelli and his team to represent some of the top cuisine from various regions of Italy. Just a short walk from the restaurant, Old Spitalfields Market is a great place to work up an appetite before your meal or take a leisurely stroll afterwards. 4 Tube stations are also within reach of Al Volo, making it easy accessible, so if you are looking for Italian restaurants in London, this contemporary spot makes a great choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. On Sunday afternoons (from 3pm) you could also join London's original Spritz party to get you in the mood for your meal!

Recommended by a few italian friends, now it has become a place we regulalry visit. Antipastis are excellent, with delicious burrata and ham. Wine list with good choice and affordable, italian of course! Large and good pizzas, delicious pasta too, tried the one with courgettes and prawns. Other dishes also available. In summer ask for a table outside/ in the... More

Hidden away in a carpark off Brick Lane, this is nice non-chain place. Brightly lit, nice decor. Good food, reasonably priced with very nice staff. Would go again. More

We often want to eat in the vicinity of Liverpool St but previously haven't made it past all the standard outlets in Spitalfields. Friends told us about Al Volo and we've tried it twice now - really impressed. Excellent pasta dishes and friendly efficient but non-intrusive service. 4 mains, 4 coffees & a bottle of wine £60. Also covered terrace... More

I have always walked past Al Volo and have seen many Italian colleagues placing lunch orders but never went in until now. What an amazing surprise. I love Italian food, and spend a lot of time in Italy and have always been slightly disappointed with the quality of Italian food (unless you pay through the nose) in London, until my... More

I visited "Al Volo" last week after a long time and this place is always a point of reference in the area when it comes to good food. It has never let me down. The dishes are simple and tasty. I adore the home made tagliatelle as well as the burrata for starters, which is actually a very difficult dish... More

The area was a bit "messy" , a lot of students hanging around adn drinking, carbage on the streets ...but inside the restaurant it was nice. But music was too loud, had difficulties to discuss over the dinner. So it was not really a romantic dinner... More

We ate here last week and the food was amazing. Nothing too fancy just simple and delicious. They make their own pasta and it shows. The place has quite a funky vibe and sits perfectly within the Brick Lane scene. We're going back next week! More

Al Valo is the place to go for true and authentic Pizza lunch in the Shoreditch/Spitalfields area (in my honest opinon). The have a lunch deal at the moment (Summer/Autumn 09): Any pizza or pasta + a glass of wine, beer or soft drink for around 8 pound. Their pastas on the other hand isnt that interesting. + (positive): Great... More
