An Indian restaurant with a French influence - sounds crazy but it works! The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. I go there every 6 months or so, and it is always excellent. You go through a small doorway into a bollywood filmset. The interior is fantastic, totally over the top, and great fun. Service is... more

We were well received, well seated, the cocktails and the food were interesting and the quality was there, not always a given in London! This restaurant is part of the Blue Elephant group and it stands by their high standards, we enjoyed it. more

While staying at the JW Marriott nearby, the Concierge recommend La Porte des Indes to us when we were craving Indian. Approaching the restaurant, it looked quaint, sleepy, and small. Upon entering, we were overwhelmed by the gorgeous interior & bustling atmosphere. The food was amazing - both for us (experienced with Indian food) and to his parents who were... more

La Porte des Indes is a deceptive restaurant. From the outside it looks like nothing special but when you get in you are in a space that is on two floors and sumptuously decorated. Rather like an Indian Palace. It is pricey - by Indian standards - but a mark of the quality is the fact that most of the... more

I visited this restaurant in a large party (birthday) which happened to be Valentines day. I have never dined there before so I can not comment on what is "normal". The place was decorated for the occasion and packed full of romantics. There was a set meal for Valentines day which was rather expensive at 50 pounds a head. There... more

Went to this place a few evenings ago thinking we'd have a good meal in a nice place. I cannot tell you how disgusting the food was - I know Indian food well, and have eaten well in many restaurants in London, but this was really disgusting. The samosas were stale and the filling was so bad it had almost... more

I did not know what to think based on previous reviews. The restaurant has a distinct Indian atmosphere, a bit colorful and over the top, not subtle. I was pleased to see the bathrooms were spotless. I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food, but what I had was quite good. We tried many things and they were all good. The... more

Nice Indian fusion restaurant in Marble Arch. Staff is very pleasant and service is good. Atmosphere was very bright and cheerful with nice decor. Food is good. Prices are a bit on the high side but still reasonable. Definitely worth stopping in if you enjoy Indian food with a little twist. more

The food is rather hit and miss - it doesn't have authenticity in its cooking, and is rather overpriced for its efforts. You can't however fault the setting or the service, which is exceptional. Palm trees and water fountains adorn the interior.. more

My wife and I dined on a Friday evening. We booked rather late in the day so we got a table for 2 in the upstairs dining room where there were 3 or 4 very large parties of 10+ people each. There was a bit too much commotion from the large parties as people arrived and queued up right next... more
