Delightful, simple, proper old school French bistro with authentic flavours, atmosphere and wine. Return as frequently as I can! Remarkable value.
I really struggle with what some of the jokers writing reviews on this website are trying to achieve by slating this restaurant (and others) for not being the thing they want it to be, rather than the very well done thing that it is. What it's not is Atelier Joel Robuchon and do you know what? it's not trying to... More
I have been here many times. The restaurant and the menu are small. Eat the plat du jour. Drink the wine. Enjoy the service. Those who want more should go elsewhere which leaves space for those lucky enough to appreciate professionalism at a good price. Try it.
I was here on Saturday 7th Sept, 2013. First impression, it was small, too small. I understand there is a downstairs area, which I didn't seem but I can't imagine it being much bigger than the upstairs area, as I doubt the kitchen could handle any bigger. L'Artiste looks rustic and quaint but on enquiring if I could have a glass of wine and an omlette was told ... " We only do FRENCH food in here ............. you can have wine but... More
Aesthetically this place looks great. Lovely little wine bar to watch the people stroll on by. Drinks menu is disappointing to say the least - 1 lager and that's Stella unfortunately. Coke or diet coke is the only soft drink. It's a wine bar you think, so this is where they SHOULD excel... a few reds to choose from... a... More

The rosé we ordered was not chilled enough and the tap water attempting to cool it also lukewarm. From past experience ordering mussels at... More
It's years since I was last there but we had a very jolly lunch, and it seemed pretty much unchanged. I don't quite understand the gripes about the service - it was friendly, charming and laid back, but very quick once we wanted something. The third member of our group arrived a few minutes after us, but there was no... More
