Whilst in London for a show I booked the restaurant for myself, my husband and his sister and her husband. I booked the Opera Menu and hoped the experience would be worth the £26.50 per head plus 12.5% service charge; I had read a few not so good reports. We arrived early and the restaurant was quiet, the decor is... more

We only booked a table here so that we were able to enjoy a pre-theatre dinner. The restaurant is very attractive on the outside but decked out like a circus arena or aladdins cave inside. The service is poor, the food is tasteless and the house wine leaves a lot ti be desired. Would like to say this place is... more

I love this place because it's decked out in very theatrical and gaudy artifacts. The decor is original and you HAVE to go to the toilet at some point during your meal. You'll know what I mean when you see it.The building itself is romantic, almost like an Aladdin's cave or something. The service is ok - if there's something... more

My wife and I are regular at Sarastro and were regulars at Papageno, its brother restaurant untiul that one was sold and closed two years ago. We never missed wheever we visited London. We particularly enjoy the opera nights. We were there on 25 November and were hugely disappointed. The food was bland, service casually negligent, dishes were not as... more

My wife and I joined our friends Tim and Tracy for a weekend in London, you know, doing the tourist thang. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury, and Tracy (who eats out in London quite a lot) suggested this restaurant, but wouldnt say what it was like. Again I don't want to spoil it, if you need to... more

I have always wanted to go here and finally my husband took me to Sarastro on 24th October 2009. Obviously looking forward to it so was amazed at how poor it was. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the setting is beautiful. The prices were no worse than anywhere in that area in London, but the food was awful.... more

Stumbled across Sarastros by chance in June 2008, after going to see Dirty Dancing for her 40th. We had a fantastic early evening meal there and she said it made her weekend. We were amazed by the decor (even in the toilets !) and so impressed we went back there in May 2009 with our 4 children ! We had... more

Back in June 2008 we were lucky enough to accompany a group of competition winners to see Joseph and then onto Sarastro for a meal, I would challange anyone who states this restaurant doesn't blow their mind the first time they visit, it's a test and a teat for all your senses, from the wondering band to unusual graphics painted... more

My two friends and I had booked a table for a pre-theatre dinner in Sarastro based upon a tripadvisor review and were absolutely delighted. The outside was a riot of colour - hanging baskets and plants virtually covering the building; step inside to different world. The setting is so hard to describe - it is set out a a theatre... more
