Fab restaurant with good selection of freshly caught fish dishes, not just battered Haddock! Exceptionally clean restaurant, friendly staff, a lift to the disabled loo. This place is a favourite haunt in Whitby. Easily as good as The Magpie and perfect for someone with mobility problems.

There are fish pies and there are fish pies but the pie here is the best I have ever tasted. The Haddock is also a treat my son always has the Turbutt

Fortunately it wsn't too busy in Whitby and we were seated straight away. My friend had delicious local crab whilst I chose the huge green lipped mussels which were deelish! Chef was overcome with inspiration and we had to wait for rather a long time, necessitating a rush to the car park to put more money in the dreaded machine... More

After a long drive to Whitby we wanted a good meal and Trenchers provided. We were seated right at the back in the corner so not much atmosphere but the staff were friendly and service great. After main meal we had obligatory pudding and I wish I had gone for the treacle toffee pudding as hubby's was great.

I rarely eat Fish and Chips because it's never fresh (down south) but we decided to eat here because I noticed that this place was clean and tidy and advertised they were an independent finalist for fish and chips in both 2011 and 2012. We went in and were seen quickly. This restaurant is very clean, large and tidy. The... More

Used to go to Magpie years ago, so did mum but she now goes here instead because she doesn't want to queue outside and says the Magpie is too cramped. Ok Trenchers not cheap for Yorkshire - we are talking Thames gastropub prices, but I'd say worth every penny. Snowy white cod, perfect batter, comes with a generous serving of... More

Reasonably priced, good food and service. We were lucky enough to get a table straight away as it was unusually quiet. Well worth the visit!

We visited Trenchers 4 times during our stay in Whitby - shame we didn't find it on our first day! Premier service from friendly, welcoming and efficient staff, very clean, well presented good food in generous portions, served quickly and enjoyed in a great atmosphere within the bright semi-retro style decor, suitable for any age group - and all at...
