Having paid £400 to stay at Grays Court for the 4 night Christmas period along with 2 other family members who paid the same, you would have thought some effort would be put into this by the "staff". Especially as we were the only guests there. In fact I felt we were intruding on their Christmas.( although we saw so... More

Stayed just around the corner from Grays Court for a holiday in York. Had hoped to go for dinner there one night after walking past and loving the look of it. From a small bit of research on the internet it seemed even though the signs saying "fine dining" I couldn't find any information on dinner - so we decided... More

This restaurant has transformed into a hotel recently with seven beautiful, comfortable. clean rooms but alas no restaurant or bar although you are served drinks in the lounge area. We were confused with this because the hotel features in reviews and also advertises itself as a fine dining experience? I believe the owners are going to incorporate a restaurant but we... More

Grays Court is beautiful set down cobble streets next to the minster. It is peace and tranquility yet just a few minutes’ walk away from the hustle and bustle of York centre. We stayed in the Elizabeth Grey suite which was stunning. Although the bedrooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities you only have to ask a member... More

Stayed here before and after the York 10K race, and had a brilliant stay: the rooms are absolutely fabulous, ours having a view over the grounds to the city walls, with things like beautiful antique furniture but with all the modern refinements you'd expect. The owners also really make you feel welcome, so that it almost ended up feeling like... More

Gray's court is an undoubtably beautiful venue and a wonderful place to stop by for tea and coffee, however for some reason they seem not to have invested at all in staff training or coordination of the front-of-house. If you are going to have a rambling house of various rooms where guests seat themselves you need to be able to... More

We stayed at Gray's Court this week as a special treat. It didn't disapoint- We had the most wonderful time. Our room was perfect (although- as you have the most beautiful views over their wonderful gardens I would have liked fresh flowers in the vases instead of pretend ones...) The building was really very beautiful, the food excellent, staff extremely... More

We stayed 3 nights in one of the rooms at Grays Court and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It’s a very beautiful house, with a very warm atmosphere – both calm and restful. Nothing was too much trouble and we were very well looked after. More

One of the things you must do when visiting York is to walk the city wall. Much of this beautiful historic city is still surrounded by the medieval walls with fortified gate houses where streets pass through the wall. For visitors from the States the streets in York are called Gates, The Gates are called Bars and the Bars are... More
