Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very welcome greeting when we arrived and had the choice of wherever we wanted to sit in the restaurant for breakfast service. A friendly waitress came and took our drinks order then once the drinks were delivered we then put our order in for...two full English breakfasts. Food arrived and was nicely presented, all the produce of good quality and proper meaty sausages. We ordered fruit juices and they were nice. If you're looking for somewhere to try for a nice breakfast give this place a go!More

Breakfast at The White Hart this morning - recently started serving breakfast on a Saturday. An excellent meal, quality ingredients, cooked and seasoned extremely well. As good a breakfast as you will find anywhere. We had a full English and a White Hart hash, absolutely...delicious. There was also the option of Smashed Avocado and poached eggs, Eggs Benedict and vegetarian breakfast with a number of additional sides. Well worth a visit! We’ll be back 😊More

It really does depend on what you have, the small fish & chips and the suet pudding were huge, BUT the pork belly was mean! No crackling, served on a couple of stalks of broccoli and one crocket potato! Nice puddings but a bit steep...at £8 each! No wonder we were the only ones eating!!More

Went for Saturday lunch. Not too busy so we bagged the sunken nook near the bar. Drinks were fairly priced, food the same. Four of us ate, no complaints about the wait or food quality. The barmaid who served us drinks and food was SO...nice. We chatted about the artwork in the lounge. A great venue, lovely ambiance we will doubtless be back. We loved the pub doggy to!More

I popped in today to look at a Sunday lunch menu to check out the vegetarian options. The elderly gentleman behind the bar gave me a copy of all the menus and said they were fully booked that day. I wasn't planning on eating that...day. He didn't know what the vegetarian options were and when a couple of regulars came in he totally blanked me and started to pull a pint for them. I mentioned that he hadn't finished serving me. He replied he was having to multi task. I didn't like his attitude or manner and told him I wouldn't be returning. The pub is in need of major refurbishment. The carpet and decor looked dated with maroon painted anaglypta wallpaper that was scuffed in places. I didn't get to see any food as I arrived st 12 noon but I saw enough of the bad service which ensured I would-be returning here anytime!More

We arrived and a staff member was very helpful and showed us to our table. The lady who was serving was very quick and efficient to take our drinks order and then came back to take our food order, when we were ready. When the...food arrived it was lovely and hot and was delicious. The homemade chips are great! Overall the staff were very nice and polite and the food was brilliant. Lovely meal out.More

Visited for dinner one Thursday evening & must say the food is a massive improvement on the ding food I was served on my last visit. Unfortunately though that's the only thing that has changed. Service was friendly but very average. Restaurant carpet needs a...good deepclean. Hopefully the decent food is a start of good changes.More

Is this a genuine hospitalty business or a social club for staff & friends?! I work in hospitality & this was shocking. Walked into the pub & through to the "restaurant" where the bar maid was chatting to her friends, no hello & the friend...was in building attire rolling a cigarette behind the bar. Eventually we were noticed & served. It took a lot longer than I expected. After we were served we took a table outside, outside space is nice, then we noticed the same bar maid then sat with customers smoking. Everything about this was far to casual for my liking. The flip flops & short skirt dresses were out of place, this isn't a tiki bar on the beach. We moved inside for dinner the food was actually good pub food. But as we ate the staff (there was more by this point) just carried on the social lives chatting, smoking. At one point a girl who wasn't even working went behind the bar & poured them selves a drink. They could spend less time chatting & more time cleaning the toilets, cobwebs & the scruffy papers all over the bar. I was shocked that this was a pub. There was no hospitality. With so many pubs closing weekly it was sad to see. A massive dose of professionalism needed.More

I really don't know where to begin with this review. I thought Fawlty towers was only a tv programme. It all started when we arrived. As soon as we walked in the door the welcome mate was grubby, the floors looked like they haven't been...cleaned in weeks. As we entered we could see in the gents toilets, hand towels empty & hanging, tissue all over the floor, mirror all splashed. The Ladies wasn't know better. As we entered the restaurant there were scruffy papers all over the bar, boxes everywhere. It's like they wasn't open. The floors again needed cleaning, cobwebs. Staff with no shoes on, short skirts. Honestly I thought it was a joke. We couldn't believe it. Half of the tables were set up, others empty. We were going to eat but judging by the cleanliness we decided against it. We just had a drink in the garden which was lovely. I really couldn't believe people were eating in this place. We here the chef is well known locally & talented. But we defo wouldn't return without the place being deep celaned. The ambience really needs addressing, flowers, candles. Something to make the toilets feel better. Good luck. Hope Sybil & Basil are going strong.More

Visited for Sunday lunch in June. I must admit it was not of an odd experience. When we first arrived it was like the stuff we're surprised they had customers coming in (even though we were booked) there was stuff all over the place &...the walk ways a little grubby. We were shown to a table & promptly served drinks. The service was friendly & ok. But not the sort of service you expect these days. It didn't coke across as if they enjoyed there chosen career. It didn't seem like anyone was in charge. Also although it was a hot day we didn't find the chosen staff attire at all appropriate for the hospitality industry. Then we come the food. Prawn cocktail & mushrooms on toast were delicious, beautifully presented. The Sunday luck was even better. The chef really cares about the small things. Red cabbage & Cauli cheese really made it a top Sunday lunch. So overall it was odd. The food didn't much the service, ambience or surroundings. If they bring all of those up to the food standard then it will be special.More

Visited for Father's Day. Was very busy, Sunday lunch was exceptional (but we knew would be as we've followed this chef) Pork so tender, Turkey moist. It was so tasty. Desserts didn't disappoint either. There is so much room for improvement on the service feels...like staff are just checking off jobs on a list not actually enjoying delivering customer service. Personally don't like looking at service staff in flip flops whilst I'm eating or seeing the staff smoke with customers then coming in to serve me. If the service can live up to the food this place will be a winner.More
