Only reason we knew about this restaurant was because a deal came up on 'Groupon' as an e.mail. So for £24 for 2 which included a 2 course meal with free cocktail i decided to give it a go. Our normal haunt is Mr Mans which we swear by as being number one Chinese reatsurant. The total amount our meal... More

We have been to the Opium for meals before and they are consistently good. A nice, busy vibe with good food and attentive service. We decided to try the Chinese New Year Banquet in a party of eight friends. It was slickly organised throughout the evening. We met in the bar before going upstairs for the meal. The food was... I first visited Opium in Sept 2011 with family and sat upstairs in the restaurant and had the most amazing meal. All of us enjoyed it, one of the party is vegetarian and they were fabulously catered for. We were so impressed that we went back a couple of months later to try the "Tapas" style food for lunch one... More

I went to Opium with friends for lunch, and went for the bento box with a choice of two (mini sized) mains. I opted for the halibut in prawn sauce and king prawn with veg, along with chicken and sweetcorn soup. The soup, was thick glutinous splodge, nothing great, just bog standard bland third rate takeaway rubbish. the 'halibut' was... More

The ambience in Opium on a Friday night at around 7.30pm was great. The downstairs bar was quietly busy and the restaurant upstairs was packed. The restaurant is in a lovely high-ceilinged room, with good lighting and decor. The service was fine, efficient and friendly. The only downside really was the food, which was average in terms of taste and... More

First time there, booked as recommended. There were 2 couples. We went for the Friday special menu which excellent value at £15pp. We ordered cocktails to begin with and they didnt arrive until after our starter. Eating BBQ ribs with a Cosmopolitan isnt quite right! They also tried to serve our wine before the cocktails had been served too.... The... More
