Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

GREEN pub grub. What's not to like, veggie folk ? This spit and sawdust independent local pub is a real find. First, it's a proper pub...the kind that is disappearing behind the glitz and sparkle of franchised breweries. If you like the glitz and sparkle,...you should STILL come here...for the food and service. Folks are friendly, location is pleasant (on a residential road)...like walking into the Rover's Return Inn - for those of you who know...you know. This gem was recommended by a stranger enjoying a brew at the Bird and Blend...took a bit to locate it, since 4G wasn't working, but ever so glad I made it there. Dirty fries are SOOOO good. Go. You are not likely to be disappointed, and compared to another veggie pub on the water in the same town...hands down a superior experience just from the way they make you feel as you enter.More

The food is great but the service is appalling. Our food was served with no offer of cutlery or condiments. When I asked the KP if we could have cutlery was told that chef needed them. They never returned to our table . I am...always happy to get my own cutlery but it wasn’t anywhere obvious. I then had to join a queue waiting for drinks to get cutlery from the bar staff. I have no doubt this is a staffing issue but nevertheless the service needs to be betterMore

We found this veggie pub on our first night in Oxford and liked it so much we went back the second night. It was obviously really busy but service was good and fairly quick. We thought it was lovely fresh cooked veggie pub food with...extensive menu. I really liked my not -chicken burger in flatbread. Staff friendly and helpful; nice informal atmosphereMore

Pitta bread with a layer of chips covered in industrial gloop and topped with a carefully stripped 'carrot', onion, portion controlled shop bought falafels and processed cheese (btw £1.00 extra for cheese). My first mouthful sent my taste buds and memory cascading back to cheap...subsidised student bar food, circa 1980s. Dear oh dear, haven’t we moved on from this?More

We came here today 31st March 2023 to help celebrate my friend getting married, the food was amazing and full of flavour, 100% recommend even if you are a meat eater. The staff were very welcoming and friendly too.

This is a vegetarian/ vegan restaurant. I am a meat eater. I went with my son (another meat eater) and his vegan partner. She usually has to make do with a hobson's choice menu, whilst we have a nice range of options to choose from,...so it was a nice opportunity to allow her to have the pick of he menu. That was one plus. The rest were a result of friendly, efficient service, a cracking atmosphere generally, nice beer- the Oxford Stout was heavenly- and a very reasonably priced menu. Oh and the food, which was fantastic. All three of us had terrific plates of food. I didn't think about it being vegetarian, it was just great food. Thank you to all the staff for a smashing evening and a wonderful meal. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Oxford.More

Had booked a table and turned out that the table was a small log barely big enough for one plate. They somehow thought that by bringing two chairs to deposit our food would be ok ! When the food arrived it didn’t get any better....The Greek salad was bland with no dressing and my pie looked and tasted like a microwaved cheap supermarket product. Avoid at any cost would be my advice.More

Having visited a couple of times pre-pandemic, we were really pleased that this pub had survived the lockdowns and seems to be thriving. Sat in the spacious and shady garden (it was really hot!) which had a lot of tables. Loved the mix of veggie...and vegan food - had a fabulous greek salad, while friends had the calzone. One of us can't eat gluten and they were incredibly helpful and reassuring about that. Thank you, we'll definitely be back! And the beer was great too.More

Another fantastic trip to The Gardener's Arms! The food is always delicious with plenty of great options for everyone. Highly recommend the caesar salad and the mezze platter, and the calzones are incredible! Service is always very good and friendly, even when the pub is...very busy, and there is a great selection of guest ales. The weekly quiz is brilliant - our favourite pub quiz ever!More

Excellent Pub, visited with friends for a drink, no plans to eat but having been before the food has looked amazing. The welcome was fantastic. Bruno took our drinks order, and was excellent at answering our questions, even when not sure of the answer. Almost...accidentally left without paying 😬 but had a great laugh with the team. Thank you, we will be back 😊More

Visited last night, the food was great, even loved by the nonveggie members of our group, staff friendly and lovely atmosphere. Will come again, going to have the loaded fries next.
