On a visit to Oxford we had the good fortune to discover Brasserie Blanc. Our party consisted of four adults and one 12yr old boy. We dined early - 7pm. From the moment we arrived everybody was very courteous and friendly. A jug of water, bread and oil for dipping was immediately brought to our table. It was very child... more

I had selected this restaurant based largely on the TripAdvisor reviews, but I started my travels before the most recent review and thus missed it until I got back recently. I agree with the "Disappointing" review. We had starters with goat cheese that were just OK, and the braised beef lumpy and tasteless. Tables were too close for comfort, and... more

I was really looking forward to eating here, but was disappointed, as were the rest of my party. The pan fried mushroom starter was a strange, greasy stew with crispbreads, whilst my main of smoked trout and salmon fishcake was salty, dry and made with lumpy potato bits in it. It was a tiny portion for a main course- the... more

Had lunch on a busy Saturday, greeting on arrival was very friendly and we were shown to our table in the centre of the front dining room. We decided to opt for the set menu (not a difficult decission, three excellent choices for each of the three courses and wine thrown in for just under £15.00!) and also took the... more

We were booked in for Friday lunch and arrived at about 1pm. Staff and service were all excellent as was the food. I had the ham and pea risotto starter and lambs liver as a main course both cooked to perfection. Wine list is good and at a reasonable price - having been to Le Manoir the day before it... more

Excellent food and good choices - the lady who took our order was very good and explained the various items on the menu. There was a good choice of wine and very well priced. Our waitress was polite and gave us enough time between each course. The food was well cooked and tasted delicious. Whilst we were in Oxford we... more

Lopping off bits of animals, frying them and whacking a bit of cream (or alternative dairy product) on it still counts as the most sophisticated cuisine in the world? If you like that sort of thing, I'm told it's exceptional. Not an approach that transfers especially well to beans or vegetables. Do the world a favour: teach lemon juice to... more

Well, we'd heard of Raymond Blanc of course, and whilst in Oxford, although we couldn't afford to go to Le Maison, we wanted to at least try what Raymond could provide for the more disearning pocket! Frankly, rather disappointed. I wouldnt describe the food as outstanding, rather bland to be honest. I was rather put off when I was told... more

Had booked a table for 9.30. I called at 7pm to ask if it would be possible to change to 9pm. The Maitre D (lady) was quite rude and told us in no uncertain terms "NO". We arrived at 9.25 informed the Maitre D (lady) we had a table booked at 9.30. She pointed to the bar and said table... more
