I have visited the Pea Porridge 3 times. My first experience was awful and service slow. I always allow the fact that you can't please, (as Churchill quoted), all the people, all the time. So I gave them another go. The second visit was better. HAZAAR I thought.!! HOWEVER today was appaling. We booked 18 of us in advance, we... More

After an on going exchange in communication with this lady, and politely asking her to explain her review, which is well wide of the mark and not genuine. We have regretfully asked her to never set foot inside Pea Porridge again. Outrageous behaviour to say the least. Justin and Jurga Sharp More

It's well worth finding this lovely little restaurant hidden in the back streets of Bury. The ambiance is charming and the food completely delicious. I think you could choose anything from the menu and not be disappointed, delicious, unusual wine and good service. I spent a wintry day with snow outside sitting next to the fire nibbling sweetbreads, pasta vongole... More

We went to Pea Porridge for our anniversary having loved the food before and it was even better this time! I had the duck confit and my boyfriend went for the lamb shank – both were delicious. The wine wasn't too expensive (if you stayed away from the speciality stuff!) and the boyfriend certainly enjoyed his ale. Service was friendly but... More

My wife and I , along with the bildeston crown chef and his wife went here for a lovely meal last week. I have to say what a lovely little place to eat. We enjoyed it so much we went back at the weekend and had a lovely meal again. Justin and jurga Sharp , the owners , have an... More

We visited Peas Porridge after an entertaining if not surprising matinee performance of Footloose at the Bury Theater Royal. Our table was booked for 6.30. We were accompanied by friends and arrived right on time. My first impression was we were entering some ones home, the restaurant is informal, but has an element of chic, with the delightful aroma’s of... More

A genuine misunderstanding caused us to be half an hour late for our booking for a special occasion. To then be "told off" in front of the entire restaurant by the obnoxious and pretentious lady owner completely dampened the spirits and mood of the evening. The continuous attitude then received from her led us to ask if she actually wanted... More

Visited Pea Porridge April 2013 with my husband to celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary and weren’t disappointed. Excellent ambiance and equally, special, delicious food. The welcome bread was very nice and hubbie enjoyed the peas porridge sampler – unfortunately I don’t eat red or white meat, but it always makes a meal “out” feel more luxurious with these added touches.... Took my Fiancee there on 30th March for her birthday dinner. Brilliant! We had for starters the Pork Belly and Pasta special, for main, the Bream and Rabbit including fat chips and for dessert Almond Tart and Chocolate cake. A bottle of Merlot, coffees and a bill of £85. Fantastic value for an absolutely superb meal. The service was impeccable... More

My husband and I have only been twice and last visit was some time ago however it has never disappointed. The menu selection is sublime, creative and experimental in places. The choice of produce and crafting of the food is excellent. We love the ambience and informality as well as the great service. The team are clearly passionate about what... More

We ate at the Pea Porridge unexpectedly and we could not be luckier. The staff was most friendly and accommodated us without a booking on a busy night. The food was outstanding with very creative dishes without being pretentious. We had black rice which was cooked to perfection, ox cheek stew and lamb which were superb. The almond and raspberry...
