Arrived just in time for the early bird, restaurant was pleasantly busy for mid week evening. Starters of fish cakes and corned beef hash were both very tasty and well presented. Main course for me was the tastiest pork ever eaten, was concerned it may have been fatty as it was belly pork but it was not at all, just... more

I recently visited Pan Haggerty whist on a trip to see my daughter who's currently a student in Newcastle. We came on a busy saturday night and despite the restaurant appearing to to have every table occupied, the service and atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxed. The waitresses were very polite, chatty and knowledgable of the local dishes and were able... more

My girlfriend and I entertained friends at Pan Haggerty on Friday 19th June 2009. We were all delighted with the experience. From the moment we arrived (late) we were made to feel right at home. We were shown to our table which was comfortable and private enough to catch up without excluding us from the vibrant atmosphere which filled the... more

Took colleague here Tuesday lunchtime. Welcome (nice girl followed by pleasant manager) was fine. So was wine (2008 Argentinean Torrontes). We chose the lunch menu and both had the same things. Risotto was nice. Main course (grilled hake on top of mashed potato, plus greens and pesto) was distinctly poor. Mash was old and dry, hake flabby and insufficiently crisp.... more

The restaurant was far too hot, everyone seemed to be sweating which made the experience just awful. The food range was very good and contained local delicacies, including pigeon and rabbit (which I ordered), but it all tasted somewhat bland. I wouldn't go there again! more

My wife and family have been to Pan Haggerty several times since it opened and have not had a bad meal yet! My favourite (when it's on the menu) is probably the Ling - I hadn't had this fish before but was very tasty. I love all the black and white local pictures on the walls and like the fact... more

Went for the 2 specials, fish cakes to start and sirloin for main. Three of us had the fish cakes and everyone agreed that they were completely tasteless, seemed like they were from a frozen box of 50 for a couple of quid. On to the sirloin, came smothered in a sauce that just tasted bad, the steak had no... more

I have been to Pan Haggerty a few times now and have to say it is one of the best and nicest restaurants I have ever been to. The restaurant itself has a very nice, chilled out relaxed feel to it and the staff are friendly and attentive. The food has always been completely spot on, I have been for... more

I was so looking forward to trying out this highly acclaimed place and I really wanted to like it. The venue, décor and service were spot-on. I liked the wine list and the menu seemed to have the right mix of dishes to suit everyone. That was the best part. We had the Spinach soup, which was tasteless; the potted... more
