Met up with some friends for Sunday lunch. Walked our dog around the two easy designated trails of countryside and woodland. Had lunch afterwards in the Cafe. The food was superb, very reasonably priced, hot, fresh and locally sourced. Couldn't fault the service or surroundings. Popular with civil servants (due to proximity of County Hall) and mothers with young children (due to the playground in the park) this cafe can get very busy at lunchtimes. This cafe has great local food options. It is located in a country park with good parking (free) right outside, walks in a little wood next door (Nunnery Woods) and a really good children's playground outside. The playground has been recently extended with equipment for older kids (8+) so works for a wide range of families for food and activity.... More

Didn't know what to expect for a Christmas lunch at this popular Countryside Centre cafe but the food was wonderful - very tasty and satisfying, served piping hot and beautifully cooked. I heard Tripadvisor mentioned today on the radio and was moved to write this. We went to the Orchard at the weekend, and urge you to go too if in the area, it was great. After a lovely walk in the woods with our dogs, we washed them in the area provided. Then we had an OUTSTANDING homemade burger with paprika fries, lettuce and tomatoes. This is our second visit and it is worth the 40 minute car journey. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful. I will definetly recommend it.... More
