This is a homely restaurant with excellent food - a cut above the standard Italian fare. It's on the pricey side but worth it. More

I had never noticed or heard of Casanova until recently however it was a pleasant surprise to find, hidden away on one of the side streets of St Marys St! The menu is relatively small and simple; about 5 or 6 options for each course with set prices £14 for a main (although lamb had £2 supplement). Wine cost £17... More

Friendly service but not very attentive. Left to our own devices for the best part of an hour after finishing our meal (and wine!) when the restaurant wasn't even full. The food was well-presented and the wine was surprisingly good. I would recommend the Lacryma Christi. More

Went yesterday for lunch after first discovering place about three months ago. From outside it does not look special and not being able to see in. Make the effort and go through the door. You will not regret it. A second memorable occassion. Warm service coupled with excellent "tasty" food - brilliant. This is not your "Brit Italian" with chicken... More

lunch yesterday confirmed our last visits view that the incresing popoularity of this restaurant has led to a dramatic decline in both the standard of the food and the quality of service.this was about our fifth visit over six months and i'm afraid it will be the last-.this is no longer the best italian in the city centre.what a pity!! Casanova's is a dream of a place, and it was great to come here for a birthday treat having visited several times before. We were surprised to see it so busy for a Monday night. The service as always was very attentive and good. The starters were fantastic. I had belly pork served with black puding and puy lentils. Not... More

Ate at the Casanova straight after a Welsh rugby international match so the restaurant was full. However both the food and the service were first rate. The mozzarella to start was the best I've had outside Italy and the lamb main course was very good. The lamb was served with potato and no greens and maybe that could be improved.... More

Dear Diners Always been a fan of this place - 6+visits and like to support local restaurants but I thought the food lacked flavour and critically seasoning - almost all of our food was the same Wine still good - recommend the £18 negro amara More

Small central Cardiff family feel restaurant with about 20 covers downstairs and the same again upstairs. Wasn't quite sure what to expect with our seared tuna Carpaccio starter but needn't have worried because if the Chef had come to the table and asked how it could be presented I couldn't have hoped for such a superb starter. When tuna is... More

The service was very good as was the wine we had with the meal and the ambience of the restaurant is pleasant. However the food we had was of mixed quality. My starter of mixed cold meats, cheese and pickles was very good but the sardines my wife had were too vinegary. For main course she had a seafood pasta... More
