We dined here at the weekend . We’d read all the amazing reviews on this forum so were excited to try . We arrived to only one other table on a Saturday night ( should have been a warning ) and were seated . We...ordered around 7 dishes and awaited their arrival . The bread and butter arrived first we’d read the butter was home made . All I could taste was salt . Didn’t enjoy so passed on anymore . A few more dishes arrived the Parmesan custard ( yup you read that right ) was a gloopy mess of overly salted cheese with soggy leeks . Awful , the Welsh rarebit and crab arrives , was burnt on the bottom so hard to cut , the first taste !!! SALT ! Yet again . Inedible . The waiter ( and older fellow ) pressed as to why we’d not touched it , we made polite excuses , then the mackerel arrived . First bite all I can taste is orange ( no mention of said oranges on the menu ) really didn’t work , by this point I’d given up . The chips arrived and were so salty I just laughed . I did enjoy listening to the older lady answer the phone , roll her eyes and then bitch to the other staff that the guest that just cancelled there on the phone only done so as they didn’t swap his time booking . ( he got off lucky I can tell you )
Few other dishes arrived , I didn’t bother and my other half tried and said all over seasoned and way too salty . Over all this reeks of a chef gone wild with a confused and very odd mix of styles and elements in a hotch potch of plates . We had to leave due to a family emergency and didn’t get a chance to offer up feed back , we did email the restaurant directly pre leaving negative reviews to receive a one sentence response , no apology . Very arrogant considering the industry is on its knees . I’ve had the pleasure of eating all round the world and have worked under and alongside some of the countries best chefs , at 5 star , 5 red star and Michelin star and this was by far the worst meal i have ever had to sit thru . Avoid .More
