Myself and my partner visited this restaurant yesterday and both had very different views. My partner enjoyed his meal which included the Cullen Skink and then Haggis, Neeps and Tatties and thought both were well presented and appropriately portioned. However, I was really not impressed with my meal. I had the Steak and Ale pie which did include some nice... More

Ended up here by coincidence as it is next to our hotel, but had a great full scottish breakfast - even if not everyone was convinced about the infamous haggis. Friendly service and free wi-fi. More

We were visiting Edinburgh for a weekend shopping and happened across The Royal McGregor as it was close to our hotel. I had the Cullen Skink followed by Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, my wife had Haggis Fritters with sweet chilli sauce followed by slow roast Belly Pork. The whole meal was outstanding, served very efficiently and in actual fact was... More

We went there recently as a large group; the food was really good and the portions were large but the service could have been better. The waiter serving us was friendly enough but the waitress serving us was pretty blunt, impatient and far from courteous. She acted like she didn't want to be there and had no interest in helping... The Royal Mcgregor is a fantastic experience for malt lovers and food lovers alike. A lovely cosy restaurant, with exceptional friendly and informed service, this is the place to go in Edinburgh, and shouldn't be missed. We had lunch and embarked on a Whisky Flight at James' recommendation and the whole experience was faultless. We got the opportunity to try... More

The place is very warm and cosy, nice staff and exellent free wi-fi, by the way. The food is good too - thorough English breakfast, tasty porrige and tea. The portions are... More

Arrived at the Mcgregor and it was completely empty. Sat down and ordered, Spanish guy running bar and taking order very good -he suggested the Pork belly as a recomendation - wrong... More

We came in on a cold Saturday night in November for a drink, the blonde lady behind the bar was a bit frosty to start but then thawed out as we stayed longer. We came back the next day for a Sunday lunch, the food was good, excellent value and we were very happy. I had a chicken dish (stuffed... More

Another great place recommended by our doorman. It was pretty, affordable, had excellent servers and good food. The appetizer haggis is safe way for scared tourists to try the local favorite. We had a really great experience since our server was attentive which is sorta rare in the UK. Easy on the pocketbook too. More
