Description: This new Indian restaurant in the centre of Edinburghs New Town has carved out a little niche for itself amongst the art galleries and antique shops along Dundas Street. Open for lunch and dinner, The Spice Pavilion attracts a well-heeled crowd of art lovers, and the interior a modern space inspired by the rich colours of colonial India is a stylish choice for both leisurely or business lunches and a romantic spot for evening meals. The kitchens philosophy is to take away the focus from heat and shift it to herbs and spices, giving the curries at The Spice Pavilion lovely fresh flavours which are complimented by an impressive range of wines from Australia and Italy.

I love indian food, and I eat it all year around. I was a little bit dissappointed with the flavours in this restaurant, and the waiter irritated me a bit as well. I wasnt bad, I just wasnt impressed, and I kindda expected more of it. Food didnt taste like it was made with the heart, unfortunately.

We traveled about Scotland for two weeks with three intermittent stays in Edinburgh. Lucky for us, we tried The Spice Pavilion on the first visit, which mean we could visit it three times. I try Chicken Biryani whenever I can find it, and ... without exaggerating ... this was the best! My husband tried several different things, always ordering them... More

I went for lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The owner/hostess/waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming. While I enjoyed my food, it was certainly not what everyone raved about on this site. Good solid Indian food with medium heat being medium heat. But the dish was nothing extraordinary. It is in a neighborhood that I frequent often for business, so... More

Have a delicious meal in the Spice Pavilion. Every dish was well cooked and very tasty but the portion sizes were a bit on the small side. Would recommend this restaurant and would return in the future.

We were at this restaurant this week after reading good reviews. The restaurant itself was modern, light and airy, with plenty of space between the tables. Nice and relaxed place. The service was OK, if a bit as erratic. We asked for popadoms and water when we arrived, as well as our drinks, and these were forgotten about until reminded... More

I decided to try here because of previous reviews, however I was left very disappointed. The food was bland and the main course was too sweet for what I ordered. The portion sizes were very small. We were served a starter and main course and were out in 45 minutes as the courses were served very quickly. The price was... More

This is still, since opening, a fantastic Indian Restaurant. Quite small and very personal. The food is Michelin standard at High Street prices. Chef is fantastic and sources great ingredients. Front of house wife is fantastic also. A great team. Some dishes you won't find anywhere else (the Duck starter my favouritie). Great wine list at low prices. If you... More

Very attractive decor, spotlessly clean. Tables nicely spaced out rather than cramped together. The food was just excellent, service friendly and efficient. Obviously a restaurant which takes pride in their standards. Will certainly return. Would recommend booking.

The best Indian in Edinburgh in my view (only Tanjore comes close). Zingy, tasty food with superb spicing. Each dish shines - the Sambal Murgh and Aubergine Dopiaza in particular. We are here once a month and the standard is always high. The lady who owns it runs a tight ship and makes you feel welcome.

This restaurant was right around the corner from my hotel, so on my first night in Edinburgh, I opted to go here for dinner. I ordered a starter and a main course. The starter was really good, spicy but not so hot that it killed the could taste. The main course was really hot, but that was what you get... More
