This pub has a great range of cask ales, with friendly and informed staff. As a bonus their is no music to drown out conversation in this cosy, atmospheric pub. Oh, and there's an open fire too!

My fiancee and I came here at the end of our stay to see the fringe and I was gutted that I hadn't found it earlier. Basically it had all the booze and food that I had spent all holiday looking for. Great porter ales on tap and restaurant food that incorporates haggis. Will come here again!
like the different beers that are on offer. have been before and they get some very good independant brewers and some unusal and never heard of ones too good atmosphere.
Popped in recently prior to dining at the excellent Mezbaan restaurant. So glad we did, warm welcoming staff, unfussy ambiance and proper beer (real ale if you must!) beautifully kept and presented. Lovely little gem of a pub, can't wait to go again.
Robin Hill, proprietor of the Elmview Bed & Breakfast in Edinburgh suggested Cloisters. Wonderful pub atmosphere. The type of place where locals and tourist can both feel at home. ...but don't point that out to them as they'll not serve you again. The only pub in the world where I have received this sort of 'service'. Never again.
Great bar with a selection of real ales and whiskies. Friendly service, great atmosphere. A proper pub!
Ive liked the beer in Cloisters but I've noticed the attitude of several staff has got complacent or ignorant in my last few visits. I was in last week and there was no-one actually behind the bar when I walked up to it, just 2 multi coloured dreadlocked individuals chatting with their dog at the end of the bar. After...

Went in for breakfast. Looks a bit too fancy for a dog friendly establishment but no, they were more than welcoming: brought over a bowl of water and another of dog biscuits as soon as we settled in. Nice breakfast & lovely coffee (though could have been warmer). Staff really pleasant and attentive without bothering you.
