Let me start by saying this place is definitely not cheap. Nor is it, judging from the quality decor and furnishing, a place where you'd expect cheap food. The problem with Amarone is not so much the prices in themselves, as no one minds paying high prices for good service and food, it's that the restaurant cannot possibly justify them.... More

Left it late to book so had to eat early ish. Still pretty busy and a nice feel about the place. Food very fresh and served with a smile. More

As the title of my review says Amarone was better than expected. I would not usually choose a "chain" restaurant to eat in but Amarone felt different. Very stylish, good service & a decent plate of pasta. More

I went to Amarone with a group of nine friends on a Saturday evening. I was very impressed with the style and layout of the restaurant and each and every one of us enjoyed our meal. We had a set menu and we all thought that it was very reasonably priced for the quality of the meals. I would definitely... More

The food was mediocre for the price and the service was slow. There is competition on George Street for Italian food, Amarone is a great location but the food was a let down. More

We ate here February 2012 & were not too hungry so just had the pizzas-they were very good! I had mushroom, partner had mushroom & chicken. Beautiful thin base, hot, well served. Decor is attractive. More

Went here with a colleague. Starter was OKish - pate and then had a risotto which was bland, unappetising, insipid. Colleague had chicken as a main course which was similar. Should have stuck to the pizzas. Will not go back again. More

We visited Amarone whist in Edinburgh over the Hogmanay period and I don’t quite know what to make of it to be honest. First impressions, the restaurant is impressive, the perfect addition to Edinburgh’s new town, very chic & tastefully decorated, with a really sophisticated ambience. I also couldn’t fault the service, the staff were great, really friendly, welcoming and... More

I loved my evening here. Felt like royalty. The maitre di remembered our faces and names from booking in a couple of hours earlier. Food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Waiter read my husbands mind and knew he was going to order the cheesecake... the best. Toilets immaculate and I loved going down to them and seeing how the building... More

Where to begin! Let's start with the positives, this should be short! Lovely decor and some very tasty food including Steaks, Seabass and good starters. The service - the worst we have ever experienced - rude, obnoxious, uninterested and that was just the manager! The staff in general were inexperienced and lacked basic skills (example struggled to Carry a tray... More
