This place used to be amazing, with authentic Chinese food. It really isn't great any more - what a shame.
I should have read the feedbacks before placing the order. Food was delivered late, was barely warm and not even that good. What a waste of money! I feel cheated on.
Great food, you just need to know what to order, none of that English-Chinese takeaway bs. The mouthwatering chicken was delicious and the handmade dumplings were great. Chips were horrible though.
I made the mistake of Googling local Chinese restaurants and this place got 4-5 stars BUT I should have noticed there were only 2 reviews (employees?). The fried rice was incredibly stodgy - the rice was sticking together and it had the consistency of porridge....The chicken & cashew nuts was incredibly over-salty to the point that I could not manage more than a couple of mouthfuls (despite me being really hungry). Please take my advice and don't waste your money on this place - I hate to be so negative but I feel on this occasion (a) I have to warn others and (b) the owner needs feedback to reconsider the quality of food.More
Delivery was just within time that was advised. Portion size OK. Main dishes were very generic and nothing special. Chicken was very rubbery and tasteless, I thought it was tofu initially! Duck dish did not taste like duck either.
Very good, not a fancy setting or location, but very authentic and the food was tasty and creative. Have to recommend this place!
Don't know why this restaurant has 4.5 Star rating. We travelled to Scotland for COP26, one day visited friends in Edinburgh who chose this restaurant based on its 4.5 rating.. it was anything but. where do I start; as we entered the restaurant, it had...the feeling of a canteen with round tables. the air was very stale and smelly. But the prices were in fine dinning category. We go to similarly priced Chinese restaurants in the South of England with very pleasant atmosphere. Also noticed the chef / owner shouting at staff or perhaps family members from inside the kitchen. our order seems to be too much for them. Food was bland, the stale air and atmosphere didn't help. Staff didn't know what Gin and Tonic was. Some little element of training would have helped there. When it was time to pay the bill, they refused to take the card saying they didn't know how to use the card machine!!.. and asked us to get the cash from the machine outside. -should be quite the opposite in these pandemic times but not here. -perhaps cash doesn't show on the system and the card payment is harder to hide in the accounts. can't think of any other reason. Realising the situation we insisted to pay by card, only then they processed the card payment for us on credit card but still tried to not give us the receipt for the card payment claiming it belonged to them. what can I say.. We definitely don't recommend this place. they need to put a lot of things right to be worthy of even 3 stars.More
This is the most authentic Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. You won’t find chicken curry ok the menu but you will get incredible pork dishes and others such as the must - have beef in chilli oil. Would go here again anytime
Our favourite authentic Chinese place in Scotland. If you go around tea time it is usually packed out with Chinese tourists or school trips which tells you all you need to know. Yungchow fried rice is best I've had anywhere. Fish dishes - super fresh...- are best bet. Sea bass, razor clams, squid all outstanding. Great dumplings. Friendly & great value.More
If you want fresh, friendly & authentic, go here. If you want chips, rice & curry sauce, go elsewhere. We've been going here for years. The food, especially the seafood, is outstanding. Try the razor clams, steamed sea bass or salt n pepper squid then...tell me they're not as good as you've had anywhere. Also, a decent sized bowl of yung chow fried rice for £3 - less than half of what most takeaways charge for an inferior version. Just go or you're missing out.More
Been a regular here for years & have always found it very friendly & super fresh tasty food. Last night we had steamed razor clams with glass vermicelli, fried pork & celery guotie dumplings, a beautiful steamed whole sea bass & just the best salt...& pepper squid. Nowhere else comes close locally for this type of cuisine. Go.More
Had a quick dinner here after a friend recommended it - was very impressed! Great food, well cooked, loads of flavour!
My family and grabbed some takeaway from here after a long day exploring Edinburgh. It was perfect to just settle into our Airbnb with some Chinese food. We got some sweetcorn soup, beef noodles, and Kung Pao chicken. The chicken was very good, incredibly tender...and had the right amount of spice flavor. What it was lacking to me was vegetables, which is what I am used to. It was an excellent interpretation of the dish and skillfully cooked, don’t get me wrong, but one reason I often order Kung Pao chicken back home is you also get some veggies and is a more balanced meal. I guess that is how they do it here, but I like still Chinese vegetables.More
If you look for authentic chinese food, look no further. Absolutely love it and eat there almost weekly for lunch!
