Has this place a Michelin star for pompousity???? I had dinner with business colleagues a few weeks ago and found the service to pretensious in the EXTREME. First class service from our arrival. Very attentive - though unobtrusive - staff , quick with menus and very knowledgeable with regard to the food and wine. A great varied menu. imaginative and creative. Lived up to our expectations. Would highly recommend the grouse and the chocolate macaroon for dessert. more

At the end of our trip we enjoyed a fantastic evening, we were expecting excellence and got it. A little pricey (extra cheese course £££) however we are happy to pay for such a wonderful dinner. This is a well established restaurant in Edinburgh and can be relied on to deliver high consistent levels of service and food.Tasting menu though pricey is worth every penny.They do a good value Monday to Friday lunch!Fantastic wine list and the best cheese selection I have ever seen.The waiting staff have always been faultless.A real gem! more

We were thrilled to get a reservation only 3 weeks in advance for a Saturday night . We decided on the 3 Course menu ,which I think was a good choice .The meal began with a glass of Bubbly and canapes . this was a lovely surprise to us , and set us in the mood for more pampering .... more
