Decent food - if you like curry - and not bad prices. They get a lot of groups in and are well prepared in shuffling tables around to make you welcome. Nice people and place!

Royal India makes some of the best curries in all of Glasgow and the absolute best in East Renfrewshire.
Amazing food and excellent service from Komal. We had chicken pakora & veg selection to start which was a great verity. Highly recommend the butter tikka masala it was delicious. Well worth a visit if you are in Florence!!
Nice place with a pleasant atmosphere. The meal started well with very fresh starters. My sister had Chicken Korma and my husband had Chicken Tikka and they really enjoyed what they had. The garlic Nan was also very fresh. The only problem was my main...course. I ordered Tikka Massala which is my favourite, but when it arrived it looked like Korma and had coconut in it. I've never tasted Massala sauce like this and I think they made a mistake but when I asked, not only did I not get an answer, nothing was done about it. I ate it and it was ok, it just wasn't what I ordered. I would still go back as its close to my sister's house and on the whole it was an enjoyable meal.More
Welcoming staff. Good buffet selection and a la carte menu. Bench seats have hard vertical backs and are a little uncomfortable after a while but normal chairs are also available.

We had some take away a number of years ago and it was good so when we decided to eat locally we chose Royal India. Very, very disappointing. Not one of the main dishes were acceptable. The best thing about it was the beer and...Jelly Babies. It is now a shadow of its former self.More
Called in on Saturday night and had a lovely buffet and a pint. There is plenty of variety and the food tastes great. They bring starters to the table and then you help yourself at the buffet. All followed by ice cream (if you have...any room). Very reasonably priced and very friendly staff. Will come again soon.More
Came here to celebrate daughters birthday staff were great, very accommodating and attentive. Loved the food very fresh and tasty overall the Royal India is good value for money with quailty food :)
I spent a wonderful evening here with friends, Don’t miss the sumptuous Indian experience for a real taste of eastern flavour especially, hospitality. We had poppodoms with spicy onions, chef platter for 4, spicy lamb chops, as always they were superb. For mains we had...chicken balti, lamb Bhuna (with added green chilli as per the waiter suggestion) chicken chasni the curry was absolute beautiful and i’d Highly recommend it for someone looking for a sweet curry that’s not to hot The staff are excellent, always looking to assist you in selecting the per meal. COBRA wat a BEER thanks once again.More
I've been dining at the Royal India in Newton Mearns for over 30 years, but my goodness standards have slipped! We arrived at the restaurant yesterday around 1730 and chose to go with the A La Carte menu rather than the buffet. We were the...first people to arrive at the restaurant. The two waiting staff seemed a little frustrated upon our arrival (perhaps due to the large number of takeaways being ordered). Shortly after we ordered, and everything seemed fine. 45 minutes later our starters arrived. The somasas we ordered were completely solid and covered in some chinese style sweet chilli sauce and chickpeas (perhaps to give the brick style samosas some moisture). We understood they were busy so decided to let this slide and continue on with the meal. One of the front of house staff started taking our starter plates away, and in his frustration due to being unable to carry all the plates, took the napkin off of one of them, threw it on the table and swore at us. Over an hour later, our main courses still hadn't arrived. Another 3 tables had arrived after us and they had all finished their main courses by this point. I asked the waiter and kindly pointed this out to him. No apology was given and he said it's because we ordered "special" dishes and they take a lot longer - even though prawns technically take less time to cook than chicken or beef. Our mains finally arrived about 15 minutes later. One of the dishes was a Goanese King Prawn curry, but unfortunately the prawns were like car tyres and you couldn't even cut through them. The Garlic Naan was also cold, soggy and saturated with melted butter. I stood at the kitchen door for nearly 15 minutes before one of the waiters came out so I could point of the issue with the King Prawns. Another waiter then came to the table and started arguing saying that "the prawns seemed just fine to him" and that "he wasn't going to argue with me". Shorly after another table called him over to complain about their disgusting meal, to which he started arguing with them too. They left immediately due to this. Despite the discraceful meal and service, the full bill was paid with only the one curry deducted from it. No replacement dish was given and I left without even eating a main course. It is really disappointing to see that standards have slipped so much in this restaurant. It used to the the best place to go in this town, however, I will not be going back after this. To anyone thinking about dining here in the near future, I would highly suggest you try elsewhere.More
Take away - we had a wee wait, bit they did advise us that they were particularly but it was worth it! The kereli chilli chicken was fantastic! The lamb tikka was tender and tasty! Not our first take away or dine in, but consistently...good - and we’re persnickety 😜More
My wife are regular visitors to this little gem in the Mearns. Never disappointed with the food or the very attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend this restaurant well worth a visit.....enjoy!
Ordered a take away food was nice particularly the tandoori wings and the mixed grill tandoori. The roti was a bit dry and the chasni sauce was really sweet and a bit like tomato soup but that might just be us not liking the sauce....Will definitely give it another try.More
We have had takeaways from this restaurant for many years and have always been really pleased with the standard of food and the service. Tonight I ordered a vegetarian dish which I discovered, halfway through eating, had chicken in it. After phoning up to advise...them of this, I was asked to wait while they asked the chef if he had put chicken in the dish. I was told there was no chicken in it and when I disputed this they asked the chef again and told me this was not the case. Did they have to ask the chef twice? The attitude of the manager was that I was mistaken but that they would pick up the dish and refund me. They picked up the dish and then phoned 15mins later to say that there was no chicken in it and that it was almond flakes. Having been vegetarian for 20 years I know the difference between almond flakes and red chicken tikka meat, both in colour and texture! I understand that restaurants are busy places and mistakes can be made. All I was looking for was an apology but instead I have been called a liar. Unfortunately I will not be using this restaurant again as their customer service is appalling.More
