Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been plenty of times. Fantastic staff and always made to feel very very welcome. Good customer base and regulars due to good prices. Food also looks great.

This was my first experience of Findlays bar despite having lived in the area for many years. It was a Thursday night and the bar was quiet with a few friendly regulars. My date and I had eaten elsewhere and we wanted a few drinks...before heading for home. As another reviewer has already said, Findlays is an 'honest pub'. It is what it is with no excuses. The bar staff were polite and the drinks reasonably priced, The decor wouldn't take your breath away but it was clean. Judging by the sound system etc there is karaoke and live music but not on this particular night. The atmosphere was relaxed and any music playing in the background was conducive to conversation. I certainly won't leave it so long before going back.More

We dropped in for lunch and to watch the football. The food is very reasonably priced and good quality, the waitress and chef seemed to really care that we were enjoying our food. When we arrived they weren’t showing the football but the waitress was...happy to change channel so that we could see it. It’s a down to earth pub in Glasgow with decent food at a very reasonable price.More

4 of us go out regularly for drinks and had heard that Finlays was a good pub to visit. Unfortunately it wasn't. We ordered a bottle of rose wine and it was completely undrinkable. It smelt of sick and we couldn't even drink it with...crisps. The barman told us that we couldn't have a refund just because we didn't like it. When we tried to persuade him further, he tasted it with a straw and declared it fine, throwing the straw away. From there he took money for replacement drinks and shoved the change into my friend's hand. We spoke to the manager who apologised for the situation and offered us the next drink for free. But we were not staying. Oddly then the first barman was sent over to apologise but told us that he wasn't being rude, just curt......this bar needs better quality wines and staff who won't empty the bar.More

After an absence popped into Finlay's one Saturday night. Although having a DJ and being able to have a dance, the place was dead with only about a dozen customers. On the plus side the bar staff were very pleasant and gave us a promotion...card which allowed you a free drink after buying a few.More

We popped in here for a quick drink on Saturday lunch time as we hadn't been here for 24 years! We decided to have a bite to eat and were glad we did. They serve standard pub grub but it was freshly cooked and delicious...and excellent value for money and the dishes we saw delivered to other tables suggested that this was normal practice. The staff were friendly and efficient. We were so relaxed we ended up staying until around 8pm. Well done, Findlays staff. You're running a great wee bar and we'll certainly be making a return visit.More

This was our second visit since we put this eatery back on our list of haunts. The new owners are keeping up the good work. Maintaining the great standards they set themselves at the start. We highly recommend this establishment for a really good pub...lunch at very reasonable prices. Staff as always pleasant and attentive.More

We called in here as we had missed this watering hole for quite a while. Great wee pub and now the two girls have taken over it is a must for people who like to lunch out. The service is great, the food is fan...dabby dozy and the prices are really reasonable. This establishment has in the past had some truly awful managers who brought the place down (hence our absence for a few months) and lost a lot of customers. The only redeeming factor was the charming young lady,(you owe me a pint for that cookie!) who did all the cooking. She was,and still is a delight. When we found out she and her pal had taken over as mine hostesses we were delighted. Finlays is now back to its old best. If you find yourself in Shawlands give this hostelry a try, you will not be disappointed!! So,all the best girls and may you be as successful as you so rightly deserve.More

This place probably isn't the first place you would think of when going for something to eat in Shawlands but it is a hidden gem. The food is good honest pub grub at great prices. The fish and chips (more accurately the whale and chips...the portions are so large) are a treat.More

The bar is fantastic offering a wide range of foods from light bites to a full blown traditional Scottish dinner. Its a very relaxed atmosphere with you seating yourself on arrival but the staff are very observant and we we're served within minutes of sitting...down. The portions are larger than expected and we couldn't even finish our meals! But doggy bags were offered as they cleared our plates a few minutes after finishing our meal. The prices are also a lot cheaper than expected due to the quality and quantity of the portions. The bar staff are very friendly with the kitchen manager also being a fantastic host! If you want a nice meal with your family or even a hangover cure i would definately reccomend finlays because the food is amazing and all the staff are up for the banterMore
