Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On the plus side enjoyed being in the atmospheric Edwardian kitchen, and looking at all the historical artefacts ( especially the enormous cooking range ) and imagining all the activity that must’ve taken place back in it’s heyday. We were fairly late calling in on...an afternoon, and there wasn’t much left in the way of fancies - so grabbed a scone & butter - but it was so very dry and crumbly it fell apart upon trying to spread it, and tbh was not very appetising. Jam was extra. At least it was a nice refreshing cuppa though, and the staff were very cheery.More

We visited the cafe at Pollok house and unfortunately would not recommend at all! The prices were astronomical, £5 for a prepackaged sausage roll! We didn’t know the size until it was brought to us, no salad or anything and no plate either, just in...the wrapper! Our friend order pie of the day priced at £6 on the menu but was charged more and when she questioned it was told the menu price was wrong! She did manage to get the overpayment returned! The pie was tiny and again on its own in a microwave container! DreadfulMore

Until recently the Edwardian cafe, which you can access without paying the house entrance fee, used to be a destination venue with a varied lunch menu where you could take visitors. It was was always packed. It's now a snack bar with only hot drinks...and overpriced pre-packaged muffins in cellophane on offer (plus at lunchtime, some soup). It's very disappointing given the marvellous garden setting and architecture - I don't know what NTS are thinking. The nearby Burrell cafe might be fancy but it's very big and noisy like a swimming pool, so Pollok was always my preference but no more.More

I was a fan of Pollokhouse café but since reopening after pandemic every cake and sandwich is wrapped in plastic and soggy old stuff. Not worth it. Why? What happened to the quality. Soup was lovely though.

I was there today with 2 children age 5 and 8. Only soup was vegetable and cracked black pepper. Tried it. No good. Sandwiches Mexican chicken, pulled pork or something and butter bean ciabattas. No good. Heavy and definitely not to a child’s pallet. We...tried raspberry and coconut slice. Dry and crumbly. No good. They had an overripe tangerine and a decent banana. With some apple juice. It would appear they are trying to maybe close down. Let’s face it . They’re not appealing to very many. I would not rush back. Soulless, greedy and disappointing. Pollok House deserves so much more. So does it’s customers.More

I come to Pollok House and cafe for years, but since the pandemic reopening the cafe has gone downhill. Such a shame as the setting in the Edwardian style kitchen should be amazing. Assortment is very limited though, overpriced and all wrapped in plastic. Such...a shame. I love the house and the outside space though. Staff was friendly. But to be honest, I would rather walk to the Burrel Café for coffee now.More

First time back for a couple of years. Sat in the garden. Good coffee but disappointed by compostible paper cups which just seemed to be binned , and all cakes etc wrapped in plastic. This was both inside and outside. Is this a hangover from...the pandemic? The scones we bought were frankly stale. Overall an expensive disappointmentMore

Ridiculous! Waited more than 15 minutes for 3 rolls with bacon and potato scone…2 takeaway teas and a small hot chocolate with pound shop mallows and scooshy cream - £24. Come on National Trust of Scotland - do better! This is Glasgow. You’re actively excluding...most of your neighbours! Wee bit of staff training wouldn’t go amiss either. DO NOT tell me it’s Covid.More

After a walk with my canine friend, I stopped for a coffee at Pollok House which allows dogs in the garden area. It’s several years since I’d been there and I was looking forward to a freshly baked cake or scone. I was disappointed when...all the cakes and scones are bought in and wrapped in plastic packaging. The lemon drizzle cake also contained palm oil. This place even on a rainy Thursday afternoon in March was busy enough to justify freshly baked produce rather than the dried up packaged variety. All in all an expensive disappointment!More

Very Good food if a tad pricey. Outdoor seating which makes it dog friendly. Toilet access with masks for covid. Nice rolls including veggie. Nice cakes & coffee.

Popped in for coffee and what cafe refers to as "signature" scones. Coffee was as good as it usually is but scones were disappointing. They had a springy texture which suggests some time a microwave rather than being freshly baked that morning. To top it...all the female chef appeared in the cafe without wearing a mask. Poor show.More

I visited the cafe for the first time last week and although the staff were lovely the food was disappointing and over priced. I ordered stovies and a lager. The lager needed a bigger glass as it is bottle conditioned and had a sediment. It...therefore needed to be poured out in a oner and so needs glass that holds it all This is an eduction point and the supplier should ensure the staff are aware. It was therefore cloudy but had a good flavour. Stovies are a traditional Scottish dish and generally consist of onions, potato and left over meat, chopped small. The version served had great lumps of meat, which needed longer cooking, little onion and watery potato. lt was tepid. It was also £7.50. Ahem, this is originally a poor man's dish. I could forgive the price if the quality was better. A good idea that needs to be improved. All in all, there is a lovely garden as part of the cafe and a great kitchen setting for the indoors, with really helpful staff. But as it's a cafe, the food needs to be better quality and better value for money..More

This place doesn't get great reviews overall yet it goes like a fair most weekends and even mid-week so plenty folk must enjoy it - I get the impression , like ourselves, that it's popular with locals enjoying what was awarded the accolade of Europe's...Best Park. We sometimes pop in for a scone while on a walk and I always enjoy it though you have to ask for it to be warmed. They do savoury scones too, served with onion relish. Never had other food - cakes look ok, some of them, not wow. It does get VERY noisy given the acoustics in the old Victorian kitchen but it is a lovely room. They could improve the look of the outside seating area, as most of it is just ugly concrete - it really could be a lovely space.More

When it's a dry ciabatta roll with some unappetising grey beef or chicken thrown inside with some dubious tomato pieces and a dollop of mayonnaise! Accompanying these were salads of rocket doused in dressing and semi roasted cherry tomatoes - in a salad? A great...disappointment and I only wish I had commented at the time. I have visited this cafe many times in the past, enjoying light lunches or coffee. If this is likely to be the offering with their new 'chef' I will definitely be avoiding in future.More
