Went to this restaurant based on previous reviews and we weren't disappointed. We didn't have a booking and it was a busy saturday evening with some christmas parties going on. The food and the service was top class. They had a special christmas set menu with ample choices. The only down side was they didn't have a childrens menu for... more

The food has been excellent every time we have eaten here and their recession-busting special of 3 courses and a drink for €20 represents superb value. We had the chowder, mussels, Chicken with chorizo and cheese wrapped in leek and the ice-cream to finish. All outstanding. With the Bierhaus and the cinema in easy walking distant this is an ideal... more

I'm really impressed by these guys. One of only 3 restaurants in Cork City I really enjoy (The Ivory Tower and Cafe Paradiso being the other two). Go for the char-grilled squid-- it's gorgeous. They do a mean seafood chowder for a cheap lunch, too. Recession busters meal = 3 courses and glass of wine for only 20 euros, though... more

We came here after we got to the Franciscan Well Brewery and realized they didn't serve food there. The bartender told us that Hardwood would be a great place to eat dinner if it's not too busy. The bartender was right on about this place! There were 4 of us and when we walked in the place was full (not... more

ok, so as a recession menu at 20euro a person you dont expect 5star food but.... the chowder was shocking, the tomato soup resembled a stir in sauce my chicken was as dry as anything, my friends risotto was more like rice pudding....the scoop of ice cream was nice....as is all bought in icecream!!! but more to the point after... more

From the moment we walked in we were treated to great service and a cozy friendly atmosphere. I guess the menu varies quite often, but they always use locally sourced ingredients in their dishes. The food was excellent and plentiful. We were stuffed, but happy by the time we left. We also did the early bird menu, which was excellent... more

Went with a group of friends to hardwood for their early bird menu last saturday - choose for a good selection off the main menu and it was excellent - all five of us enjoyed each dish(which is rare as there is always someone who is not too happy). the early bird was €24 for two course meal - great... more

Went to Hardwood one Sunday lunchtime for brunch. Nice menu, varied and interesting. I chose the french toast which was good but my boyfriend had the steak and it was only ok. Didn't really look too appetising and made for a dull visit to be honest. Noticed several people sit down only to get up and leave when they found... more
