This place is deservedly busy and with a lovely warm atmosphere. For the area, it could be a bit of a challenge to find a decent light Sunday lunch at a sensible price given the going rates near the Green, but we found Hugos to have a great dish - soup and smoked salmon - that was exquisite, well-presented, and... more

Hugo's was a sort of consolation prize to me by my husband after we were left stranded by the GreyLine bus tour to Wicklow on the last day of our Ireland visit. We walked into town from the Jury's Ballsbridge and passed Hugo's accidentally on our way to the archeological museum. I saw that they were serving brunch and that... more

Hugo's was recommended to us by our b-and-b owner, and we were pleased with our experience, will be back next time we get to Dublin. We both had seafood dishes (scallop/prawn combination and a salmon dish) that were very good, followed by a peach cobbler that was the best dessert we had on our two-week trip. The wine selection is... more

Reading other reviews, I chose to book this restaurant before travelling to Dublin. We only had one night and wanted something special. Unfortunately this wasn't it. There were four of us and the verdict was split 50/50, two enjoyed their meal and two didn't. The table we got was in the middle of the floor with serving staff going past... more

I totally agree with queenbeehive's April 23, 2009 review (see below). This restaurant is brilliant. Six of us (parents and four young adult women) visited Dublin in May, 2009. Based on reviews in Trip Advisor, and elsewhere, we walked along Merrion Row, just off St. Stephen's Green and checked out the menus posted in the window of several restaurants in... more

Went to Hugo's after hearing so much about it in work. I eat out about twice a week with work clients and am always looking for places to go where I can be guaranteed good food & service. I have to say I just loved Hugo's! We were warmly greeted and welcomed into a quirky but very comfortable room. The... more

We had dinner for two at Hugo's this week and were blown away by the quality of food and ambiance of the place. They cook everything fresh from local ingredients (no freezer on premises.) We started with the garlic toast in red wine sauce with poached eggs; it was amazing. For main course I had the crispy duck and my... more

DH and I walked into Hugo's without a reservation (barman at Doheny & Nesbitt recommended it to us) and we were happy to sit in the front bar room in a window seat--perfect for people-watching. Both food and wine and the waitstaff was excellent. We definitely recommend it! more
