Have been going to Hales for over 30 years and have had many an amazing night there. Seen many changes, landlords come and go. By far the best however is Amanda and her current team. Always helpful, concerned and smiling. Theme nights are fabulous. Food excellent, bar always clean and ALL are made welcome. Sadly, due to poor health I... More

This is a pub with a difference in the age of too many witherspoon type pubs. The pub has character, atmosphere, good service, and decent bar food. Being the oldest pub in Harrogate, it has a number of great interesting features such as original gas lights along the bar, as well as a good selection of real ales. It also... More

Whoever thought offering “live” music on a Sunday night would help attract customers might want to think again. Rather than drawing customers in, the effect it had on me and a friend was completely the opposite: we couldn’t get out of the place fast enough. Which is a shame as I’ve visited Hales Bar many times over the last 30... More

I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit to Hales Bar, our Sunday early doors music session is a popular event however I appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea, the varied bars in Harrogate all offer something different for its clientele. The gas lighting is still fully working, 2 behind the bar & 3 ceiling pendants... More

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, welcoming locals, lovely landlady who can't do enough for you, well kept beer and food offers (2 meals for £10 on steaks etc) great value for money. The only thing I have to say is bring back the hand cut chips on the menu and the chilli and pint deal on a monday (i didnt see... More

Nice pub but disappointed with the service. There were a total of 5 people in the whole pub but I asked to move to another table so that the manager could have a meeting ! Also an elderly gentleman was shooed away from the same management table due to the impending meeting. I thought I was in the midst of... More

Hi, my apologies you felt the service was not to standard. Unfortunately, the area in question is the only bay where privacy is possible, the meeting in question was not actually for myself but rather a pre-booking that I had taken from a conference delegate who was in fact delayed. I did question the bar team who advised that they... More

Could not be in harrogate and not go to the oldest pub, the young lady serving was very forth coming in telling you all about the gas fittings in the Hale, we had never seen a cigar lighter burning away on the bar and the very bright gas mantle light fitting hanging from the ceiling it was interesting, they also...
