Was great whilst it lasted but, afraid it has closed. Shutters have been down for many weeks and a For Sale sign outside.
We have eaten at La Cena several times and have always really enjoyed the food. Specials are changed regularly and there is an excellent choice of tapas. The restaurant owner is always charming and the 2 for 1deal on cocktails on one day midweek (thursday, I think)is a great bonus. Also love the delicious home made bread.
We tried La Cena twice. It was the worst tapas restaurant we have been to. The food was tasteless and the chef did not appear to have a clue about cooking spanish food. I'm afraid we would never go back. The gambas ali-oli tasted of water and as for the croquetas - they were like balls of cheddar cheese melted... More
I have eaten at La Cena twice now and have found the food to be excellent on both occasions. The bread was homemade and delicious. We ordered 5 different types of tapas including paella, chicken patas bravas and each dish was lovely. The second time I went I took some friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
We have now been 6-7 times and gets better each time great menu , prices and some of the specials are a must . Defiantly our choice for tapas in Manchester . The host makes it very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We have eaten at La Cena about 8 or 9 times now and the food is good, often outstanding. The service is friendly and welcoming and when we have visited with our children they have been just as welcome. I would highly recommend a visit.

We dined at La Cena last week. We could not have been more impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, attentive service and high quality food. The owner who works as the one of the waiters in the restaurant is charming and funny. A great place for a weekday evening meal in South Manchester when there's nothing in the fridge!
Weve been visiting la cena for a few months now and felt i had to leave a review The food is always fresh and delicious, and i love the fact they make their own bread.
