Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tasting menu in tiny restaurant upstairs remarkable - a procession of dishes with tastes and colours that delighted us. They contrasted and balanced for a delicious feast. We loved El Botero's dishes so much we ate several again in bar downstairs three different nights. Best...barman. Food favourites - shitake dumpling, taco oreja.More

We were passing and dropped in for an evening drink and found we didn't want to leave. A great vibe, warm crowd and top class bar staff. There is a range of cocktails to choose from and just watching them being made was a joy....These are both historic and modern cocktails and those we tried were outstanding. We came back the next day to try some more. On our next visit to wonderful Toledo we will be here for the food which we hear is superb. Until the next time, thank you El Botero!More

This place is great for drinks and tapas but it is very small so be prepared to be in a crowded space.

Quite possibly the best meal I’ve had in years. The food was atypical and delicious. We got the tasting menu with the bad luck cone for desert. Definitely arrive hungry!

The cocktail menu at El Botero is extensive and creative. All the drinks were made with care. Even a glass of vermouth was served in a smoked glass. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to try the restaurant. The kitchen does not open until 9pm.

Arrived at 12:45 to be told they don’t serve until 1:00. So we left and came back to a full restaurant at exactly 1:00 and were told they didn’t have room for us. Not sure why they didn’t tell us to sit and wait or...have a drink. But a titch snarky and rude. Had heard good things…bummed.More

Recommended by our host Antonio we managed to book a table during our visit to Toledo. The menu offers a selection of unusual dishes, some with an Asian touch. Excellent Scallops, Chilly Crab and grilled Sepia with black rice. The staff is very professional and...friendly, explaining the different dishes and options. This tiny restaurant was recommended by our guide and what a great recommendation it was! We had their "Menú. Compartiendo Botero" which included 8 different dishes. When we saw the size of the first dish we were concerned that we would still be hungry by...the end of the meal - but how wrong we were! The dishes were delicious, full of flavours and well presented. The staff took the trouble to explain what each dish was in English. The meal was the perfect way to end our stay in Spain. A great dining experience. We all went home with full and satisfied tummies! Thank you to the team at Taberna El Botero!More

Friendly staff, clean and well designed space, artfully appointed with colors and textures and tasteful wall hangings were but an hors-d'oeuvre to the incredible feast that followed. There were so many items on the menu, our guide, Natalia Gomez Garcia, recommended we order several dishes....What a great idea! The presentation of each was nothing less than FIVE STAR. As delicious smells circled the table we couldn't wait to begin eating. We quickly got over the dilemma of where to begin. Then, the grandest treat of the trip was discovered -- a heavenly flavor beyond imagination.More

We ate the taster menu to share for two. Food was of exceptional quality. Well presented and full of flavour. Staff spoke English and were kind and patient. I cannot understand reading why the pescatarian gave this restaurant such a bad review, if they could...be bothered to have done their research and read about this restaurant they would have realised that their standard offering was a set menu which could not be adopted to fish only. We enjoyed every course and our waiter was able to recommend an excellent wine. By English standards this place was not expensive for the quality of food and wine we experienced. We would love to return but sadly we were only in Toledo for a few days. Highly recommended. The downstairs bar was full and the bar food looked fabulous. We would love to try that too. The bar was full of Locals, which is always a good sign!More

We visited recently and we were overwhelmed at the delicious food. The staff was lovely and helped us choose our food as we did not speak Spanish. The charcoal cod is the best thing I’ve ever tasted. And the croquettes were amazing. And of course...we had to have the beef which was like a chimichanga. I highly recommend this restaurant.More

Had high expectations, but it was RUBBISH ! Not able to have either tasting menu as one of us is pescatarian so I ordered Thai fruit salad which had very very little fruit and lots of leaves. The peanut dressing had no flavour of peanut....Main course. None of the meat dishes inspired me and so I chose cod cheeks which were as tough as “old boots” and I left much of it. Desert which I didn’t plan to have but was still hungry. I asked for chantilly strawberries without the chantilly which was not possible. When it arrived there was a lot of cream, one strawberry cut into 4 and 4 deep fried samosas filled with manchego!! If I’d known about those I would not have wasted another €8. Not for me and cannot understand why it is so highly rated. Ideas above it’s station and a lot of money for what I ate which was not a lot. I did inform the waiter as we paid the bill but that was a waste of time.More

I do not know if they have menu del dia upstairs in fancy restaurant. We ate in the bar and had hamburgers which were delicious. Upstairs is expensive.
