We made a point of trying out the oldest restaurant in Barcelona, and we were not disappointed. We went for lunch just before two and it got quite busy shortly thereafter, but the service remained decent. We both ordered from the "menu of the day." I had a delicious quail stew and a (VERY potent) whiskey tarte for dessert. My... More

Very disappointed after reserving this place on the recommendation of Lonely Planet. The place is huge and quite impersonal. Our server never smiled and was not very helpful. The food was OK, but we had much better in more local places around Barcelona. After five days and many delightful meals, this was my least favorite.

Nothing wrong with the food here and it's quite reasonably priced with a very mediocre wine list. Good for a large groups or a starting point for people who don't mind a formulaic experience. Not a foodie place. It's a bit of a factory with all the standards which are more deliciously made in smaller settings with more charm elsewhere.... More

Food is excellent, I tried paella and it was simply fantastic!! My friends tried gambas and they were excited. Desserts were medium.

We were taken to this restaurant for a special birthday celebration. After an extensive review of the menu we shared a number of appetizers and main course dishes. The Catalan spinach, goose with apples and fish with almond sauce were especially hits. With wine and 3 shared desserts the tally was only €25 per person for six of us. The... More

I went here a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. This is an old restaurant which just keeps on going. It is a lot bigger than it looks like, rooms opening up everywhere. Nice decoration. More of a brasserie kind of atmosphere though as it is always very busy. We had some great traditional dishes, that we would... More

We visited this place as it was advertised as the oldest restaurant in Barcelona and second oldest in Spain. Quite crowded once inside and not much of an atmosphere. The food was okay but not the best I've had in this city. The service could have been better as we got the feeling they didn't like tourists there as this... More

I went with some friends on Easter holiday 2013. So much excitement (and may be expectations) as it is the oldest restaurant in the city. First Impression, place was nice and cozy, the lady before the entrance were nice and welcoming. Next, it is very crowded. We were a little unlucky I guess, our waitress doesn't speak English and she... More

went on a recommendation by hotel staff. place had a great atmosphere, filled with Spanish people and locals. waitress was great at helping us choose from the menu despite not speaking any English. Food was traditional Catalan and was lovely. white asparagus starter was amazing. took a bit of finding the restauarant but worth the effort and we found lots... More
