Went here due to reviews on here and was close to the Montecarlo where we were staying. It was so cheap!! Had a two course lunch with half a carafe of wine for less than 30 euros, 15 euros cheaper than tapas and beer at a nearby bar!!!! Well worth a visit. more

Attracted by the fixed menu price we were pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality of food. Although packed the atmosphere was pleasant and conducive to a very nice evening. Barcelona is wonderful and this restaurant adds to the charm. more

I stumbled on this restaurant my second time in Barcelona unintentionally and found it again a great value with well prepared food. Nice selection of affordable Spanish wines. I will make sure to go back there if I am in Barcelona again. It is a find in an area filled with tourist traps. more

We found this restaurant by chance on our first night. It had the menu of the day for €18.50 for 3 courses plus wine, bread and coffee. Exceptional value and great food. Staff really friendly. We ate about 7.30pm and didn't have to queue but soon after we came in there were long long queues which I feel says a... more

We stumbled across La Fonda by accident one lunchtime, it was getting late and we were worried we wouldnt find anywhere to eat. We both ordered off the set menu of 8euros including a glass of wine or you could have a beer for 0.33 euros extra. The food was fine, yes a little bland but definitely worth the money.... more

We ate at La Fonda on our first night in Barcelona, principally because our guide book said it was cheap. The menu del dia was a decent price (I think it was about 18 euros including half a bottle of wine and bread) and the food was OK. We had paella with large mussels and prawns in, although the prawns... more

With no offence to waiters/waitresses (I've been one myself) this job could be 95% performed by a trained monkey, its that 5 percent that takes the job from being a menial task, to a skilled profession. What do we want from our server? We want attentiveness without being over bearing, we want efficiency, without robotic-ism, we want manners without snobbishness... more

We stumbled across this restaurant having strolled along La Rambla dn the surrounding areas. The menu looked interesting and the prices reasonable. We were lucky enough to join the queue early in the evening on both occasions ... a clue as to the quality and value on offer. Had a great meal on both occasions ... service was good despte... more

La Fonda came recommended by a friend. We arrived at 8 because I heard there were queues (there were later). The staff asked how many in the party, we said seven and the reply was "Downstairs" with a wave of the hand. The waiter arrrived and took the order. He had the all the personality of an overboiled cauliflower -... more

We were recommended La Fonda but I can't forward the recommendation. I had the leek pie as a starter and it was obviously out of a box and defrosted. Then I had the tuna with potatoes and everything was drenched in oil and tasteless. We barely finished our meal and more than dissatisfied and continued to a tapas bar to... more
