nonetheless, we had a very good dinner. The service was great. We were seated in the tiny cave (just three tables), and it was a little embarrassing that all three were Americans! The garlic soup was wonderful. The wine was great. And, really, the whole point for us was the pork. Mmmm. At the end a singing group kind of... more

17th December 2009, 4 pax., dinner Excellent (and abundant) food&wine: appetitizers (croquetas, jamon), main course (fish, meet, baby pork), desserts and coffees. Very good red wine + dessert wine. Very nice service. Lovely atmosphere. In total: 45€/each. Recommended! more

Reputedly the oldest restaurant in the world, located just outside Plaza Mayor. This restaurant specialises in suckling pig, so not the best place to go if you're vegetarian. We're not and so we went there, ate the suckling pig and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely; warm, inviting, with crisp linen and the gentle rise and... more

Reservations were made, name checked & we were seated upstairs which was fun. Food was incredible - I love a roasted piece of meat. Waiter was professional & helpful. My friend from Spain told me Botin was their favorite in Madrid - it's now mine. more

It was a great dinner at Restaurant Botin. After being welcomed at the door, I was taken down a short flight of steep stairs to the floor just below and seated there. I later realized that there was also a floor above street level making it 3 floors in all. But I think the one I was at was the... more

Since it was our wedding anniversary we booked a meal with another couple at Botin after reading favourable reviews. On arrival a 8pm we were directed to the top floor (of 3) and found that we were the only people in that part of the restaurant. Although old, it had little atmosphere and much less atmosphere than the Belgian bar... more

I don't know where to start or where to end. While all other establishments were "empty" on a thursday evening, we were lucky our unreserved table wait was under 30 minutes! People come in droves to have their "cochinito asado" - one of the most sensual ways of feasting on pork you will ever experience! From the moment you walk... more

The food is good, suckling pig is fine. The atmosphere is quaint , but this is purely a place for tourists, including noisy tour groups shooting photos and mariachi singers performing . Not at all impressed. more

This place is full of atmosphere, efficient waiters, and fantastic portions of crunchy bread served with your meal. However, the suckling pig was awful. Carved at the table, it promises so much but delivers so little. 90% of it was semi soft crackling and the remainder was very fatty slimy pork with very little taste. It came with 2 very small... more
