We went as a birthday party of 18, and the staff were completely unflustered with such a big group, they got all the meals correct, and hot. Service was excellent, especially during the frequent request for more vino ! I had terrine, followed by beef Wellington which was pick and delicious, and chocolate fondant. Overall good value, very tasty, but... More

... gloriously informal best value lunch for years. A refreshing antidote to the uber style rooms that houses so many restaurants this charming place served good food every bit their equal for half the price. 3 courses each & 3 glasses of wine + 2 coffees for £39 Chunky terrine & chef's mum's chutney followed by perfectly cooked fillet of... This village, popular with summer visitors, has many excellent qualities but you wouldn't really associate it with innovative cooking. So Samphire comes as a welcome surprise. It's a simple place, fairly small, with a variety of wooden furniture and a welcoming ambience. The staff are first-class and the food is top quality. Local products are used, with an emphasis on... Ate here last night and I can only say it ticked all the boxes. Fantastic, fresh food and impeccable service. I would thoroughly recommend it! I loved the cosy, quirky atmosphere and would definitely eat here again. More

Quite simply excellent: service, food, thoughtful, accommodating, and friendly. If you’re fed up of average-poor food served in an ambience designed to con you into thinking you’re about to eat good food and enjoy attentive service, then this is the place for you. The team at Samphire are good enough to make me question why are they there (in East... More

We were recommended to try Samphire by the owners of our holiday apartment - and they were right! Very small and with quirky furniture, it is tucked away in a slightly odd area near the beach at East Wittering. We parked nearby on a free car park ( which we found by accident !) We were welcomed with friendly service... More

Had dinner at The Samphire in East Wittering run by the personable David Skinner. Set in a very unprepossessing location of mostly bungalows near the seafront, the decor is very rustic but charming. Some restaurants have an undefinable atmosphere and this is one of them - it just feels good to be there. Rough wooden tables, vintage china plates, Kath... More

ive been coming here since the week it opened: for morning coffee, evening meals and most recently a summer party. This place started off well and keeps getting better. Everytime we go, there's something new - we love the hand knitted blankets on the deck - and the service remains unjaded and delightful - everyone is made to feel special.... More

We visited Samphire with our young family following positive reviews here commending its family-friendliness. I can't fault that we were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who was more than happy to cater to our two youngest members. It would have been nice to have an option for those with much smaller tummies to fill but the chef very kindly... More

We ate at Samphire in May 2011 with friends and we enjoyed the food and the service but I was very surprised to read that Samphire received a very poor score (1/5) in the local government food hygiene ratings. This has rather put me off until the rating improves. It would be interesting to read the Management's comments. More
