We were very disapointed with everything really...the ice cream is far from being good...and the service wasn’t friendly at all. Very small size portion compared to other amazing and much high quality stores in bologna.

You have to try Il Gelatauro if you want to eat authentic gelato. You could choose from many different and more unusual gelato tastes, the pistachio was a dream! The café also offered other snacks and baked goods as well as super good coffee. The...price was very affordable and we got served by a very welcoming and kind woman, her positive energy was contagious and she spoke fluent English which was helpful :)More
The Galatauro is a little off the beaten track, so you could easily miss it. This would be a pity as it is part of what makes Bologna the food capital of Italy. No where else have we tasted cannoli Siciliani so fresh and tangy,...better ice cream and hot chocolate, or coffee as pungent, delicious and elegantly served. It is near the Aldrovandi market just 5 or 6 minutes walk from the Due Torri. Se we combined it with a morning walk and shopping for flowers and provisions. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the Gelatauro as well as the vestiges of industrial archeology within. But the gelato itself is the pièce de résistance, in the best Italian tradition.More
Great selection of flavours. Awesome service. I personally enjoyed the dark chocolate and the fragola.
OK, that's - technically - not saying much, because most of the gelato in Bologna is ridiculously good, but even so, this is better than most. Fresh, impeccably sourced ingredients, done just right, with flavors and textures to match. The draw here is that alongside...the usuals, there is usually a selection of "different" gelati - orange peel, goats milk, and whatnot. They're all amazingly good - you have to try them!More
Although this is off the beaten track and is a modest shop, it is definitely worth the walk to find it. This man knows his Gelato and is creating wonderful and inspiring flavours. He is also happy to offer suggestions on which flavours work together....Please ignore all the bling Gelato parlours and find this one.More
This little shop is a pure delight, though in a very understated way. Gelato is properly made without any artificial stuff, changing daily and according to season, with original flavours mostly of Sicilian inspiration. My favourite: Zabaione dell'Inquisitore.
Happen to run into this place because of a visit to block where it is located (recommendable to visit if you like simple civil architecture refurbishment btw). The gelato is absolutely delicious!
Wandering around old Bologna, we accidentally fell into a small and "modest" confectionery with ice cream. It turned out that we found a place that tourists dream about looking for Italian tradition. Real homemade ice cream and confectionery delights. Great taste of the products, the...delicious coffee and the atmosphere of the family small business. Nice owner and his brother (greetings to his Polish wife 😉), who complete this wonderful place with their being. We were in Venice, Modena and Florence and there was nowhere so good ice cream and such a cozy place that smelled of Italian tradition. I think that you have to hurry because such places disappear forever. That is why it is worth being happy.More
Having got to know this spot a little off the beaten track a few years ago, our return confirmed that the proprietors are always up for experimenting with flavours and combinations. They do not rest on their laurels like many other outlets and what is...promising is that they willingly offer tasters to the curious among us. This reduces the risk that the unadventurous may feel in avoiding an unusual combination of ingredients not quite to their liking. Staple flavours are always available and the purity of raw ingredients is never in question, with many being sourced from the deep south of Italy or further abroad. Always an interesting experience when coming here.More
It's a little bit out of the way, about 10 minutes walk from the Due Torri, but it's worth it. The Gelato is nice, with some interesting flavours (I usually go for the Cioccolato all'Arancia), and they also sell some really good chocolate too -...the single origin bars are reliably tasty. The place has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, quite different from some of the other hectic gelaterias in the centre.More
decent but not amazing.... the texture was more stiff than regular creamy gelatos. there are better options in bologna
This gelateria is a favorite of locals and is a bit further out. The gelato to me was good, but not out of this world, particularly when there is so much other gelato out there. Was surprised that the gelato was not covered, as is...with other traditional gelato makers. Gelato was creamy but the flavors were not out of this world. A friend really loved the green tea gelato, but it isn't my thing. Nor is pumpkin spice...i'm kind of over that, even if they have been doing it for years before the flavor came to north america.More
The gelato here is made with the best ingredients in Italy. I come here every time I come to Bologna. It's a little far from the city center but it is definitely worth it. The pistachio gelato is one of the best I've had!
I come here whenever I can. I tried every single flavour of ice cream and still haven't regretted any! My favourite are pumpkin ("Zucca"), ginger ("Zenzero") and Cannolo (JUST TRY IT!). If you can, go to this vintage-looking pearl even if it's a bit out...of your way.More
