Great place for breakfast on the run - the pastries are to die for. The brothers running the place are great value and very friendly (and speak English extremely well). more

First off, yes, the noodles are out of the freezer (it says so on the menu) and quite likely this isn't the best food you'll have on your whole trip, and yeah, the atmosphere is definitely touristy (the brothers have obviously refined a shtick that works in keeping customers coming back every night). But it's fun and everyone in the... more

When you get off the train, be sure to start walking in the direction AWAY from the coast and you'll find Il Pirata a few minutes up the main path. Don't believe Google Maps when it tells you that it is down near the water - you'll end up completely frustrated and still hungry. With that said, I agree completely... more

Hands down, best canoli ever eaten. And we've been to some of the best Italian restaurants in NY, Boston and Rome. The guy who runs the place is hilarious and NEVER modest about his desserts, but he's right to boast. They're amazing, fresh and handmade. Plus the restaurant is open all day, a rarity in Italy. Stop here for a... more

Without all the great reviews, you may not give this place a second look. It's location is not impressive, but a meal here will leave an impression. We had breakfast here both mornings we spent in Vernazza, and came for dinner once. Everything was excellent, but as everyone says, it's the animated brothers that make dining here especially memorable. Our... more

So, first of all, the fig granita is AMAZING. So great, I had to get it two days in a row! Delicious breakfast pastries, very chatty guys! I was a bit taken aback when my husband and I returned for dinner, and the main guy didn't seem to remember us from the previous two days' breakfasts, and then his brother... more

The twin owner's of this restaurant are absolutely charming. We had a delightful evening bantering with them and watching them interact with fellow diners. The food was simple and delicious -- mostly because it's traditional Italian fare with lots of extra cream in it. You'll have a good time here, no doubt about it. However, if you're a picky foodie... more

For breakfast or dinner this place is a treat. It's small so if you want to go for dinner make sure you make reservations! more

Thanks to all the great reviews we read about this place, we stopped by for breakfast one morning...and then came back for dinner...and then breakfast again the next morning! The brothers are so warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely fantastic. Mouth-watering, hot-out-of-the-oven ham and cheese croissants for breakfast, amazing pastas and desserts at night... And wonderful service--better than... more

Now that I am back in the U.S., I am still craving the delicious bruchetta with the tasty pesto that is served at Il Pirata. The pastries are also fantastic. For my husband and me, they were best of show compared to those in the other areas where we stayed . Our dinners were also delicious. My husband likes lots... more
