It's a famous place with an interesting history, so we got sucked in, ignoring the negative reviews. Bad decision. Harry's Bar is a complete rip-off. A plain gin martini (ordinary gin) is 17 euros, or about $25, plus service charges of several more euros, and fancier drinks are a lot higher. Our bill was 36.50 euros for one martini and... more

The legendary Harry's Bar has been written about in every tour book about Venice. A restaurant and watering hole still targeted to the smartly dressed and well monied, it was a favorite of Hemingway's. Hitchcock loved it, too. So did Capote, Onassis and all the jet-setters of another era. Your curiosity level will depend on how enraptured you are with... more

Like most other reviewers I can couch that this place is like some cruel joke. The bar has no character at all, soulless, dirty, there were a lot of flies and the drinks appalling for the price. A lot of bars in Venice will give you some decent snacks, not Harry’s; we had a bowel of stale olives which almost... more

perhaps the rudest staff i've ever met. full of tourists reading maps (of which i was one...). the bellini's were good, but there are hundreds of better places serving these in venice. to be honest i'd rather buy a bottle of belini in duty free & drink it at an airport than go back to this place more

It's one of those experiences in life that you feel you must do but then are sadly disappointed. The Bellini's are very expensive and over-rated. The bar was not particularly clean (tables sticky) and I noticed the Waiters jackets were dirty and stained. It feels like you are on board an old ship in the Captain's Bar that has looks... more

We stopped in this place because it's the 'birthplace' of the Bellini. Don't make our mistake. In a nutshell, The drinks are OK, really small for the price (15 euro each), the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, no view, and the bartenders were rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. more

After just returning from Italy and reading theses scathing reviews on Harry's Bar, I sadly have to agree. I went on my birthday to have a bellini and was utterly disappointed. There simply is no atmosphere, it's dated and seems only to cater to tourists like myself who wish to have the "Harry's" experience. While my bellini was delicious, it... more

The bartender was very aloof. He did not want to take our order. After 10 minutes he finally did. After another 10 minutes a manager asked if we had ordered. We said we had, and he ordered again for us. We watched as he gave drinks to others who came in after us. Some he knew, so that we understood,... more
